Doctors' are mostly workouts for the sitting muscles, with the brain 🧠 trying to soak up information like a sponge.

But in this mid year TNOA conference called Bay EyeCon conducted on 19th Jan 2025, we came up with a different plan. We had all delegates moving up and around the conference hall in a novel program called "Live Long, Live Strong". Delegates, both senior and junior, moved around to form four groups and tried to come up with innovative solutions for everyday hurdles to staying healthy. They were given 1 problem statement each and they had 5 minutes to come up with practical solutions for the same. A group representative presented the solutions to 4 judges in front of the audience.

The four groups were innovatively named to mark the four pillars of good health. They were

Body Soda, to emphasize physical exercise
Unave Marunthu, to mark the importance of nutrition
Manase Bathiram, for the value of mental wellness
Quality Kumbakarans, to stress the need for quality sleep.

It was an event filled with laughter, movement and energy.
Thanks to a young, energetic and creative team we were able to engage a hall full of eye doctors and hopefully create a spark to change their lives for the better.

Introducing to people is my way of showing them . A motley group of people trudged through the forests of TADA along the river's course to the Ubbalmadugu falls on Sunday the 29th Dec 24. Doctors left behind their titles, advocates their degrees and children their books to engage with nature at her best. A rainless clear sky, enjoyable weather, clear sparkling water accompanied us through the journey. As the trek progressed, difficulty levels went up. The pebbles became rocks and the rocks became boulders. The slow river current became a furious torrent and a waterfall fell like a load of bricks on our head and we gladly took the beating.

We learnt in the school of life, what we could never learn within the confines of a classroom. We are mere mortals in this journey of life, there's one person ahead of us and one behind. The guy in front helps you and you help the one behind.

Art and devotion

Away from the long line of devotees waiting for darshan was this temple artist completely immersed in his work. His effortless movements in creating his vision of the Lord was his form of prayer.
I was able to observe him and I wondered if we pay the same undiluted attention to our work, is it any less than a prayer?

Also got a good look at the colourful yantra he had created by the side.

Teacher's Day for me.

Hearing words of appreciation from one's teacher's lips is one of the best gifts I could hope for this week. The day was not Sep 5th, but on the 60th birthday celebrations of one of my earliest teachers.

I had the honour of getting Dr. U. S. Srinivasan's blessings and his recognition on his special day. I hope to live up to your ideals sir. Dr. U. S. Srinivasan is a very senior neurosurgeon in Chennai and I had the opportunity to work under him in PSG medical college just after my MBBS. It was probably my first job and Dr. USS was my first mentor in surgery and in life.

The annual meeting of the Tamil Nadu Ophthalmology Association in Chennai titled CheEyeCon.

Days filled with science and fun. Being a panelist, judge, speaker and moderator and a life long learner. Kudos to the organizing team and all the technical staff.
