There are equal amounts of scientifically inaccurate information on the internet as there are facts and more reliable ones.

We all know that this is true... And still, hundreds of cancer and brain tumor diagnoses later, we still prefer asking Dr. Google before approaching an actual medical/ healthcare/ fitness professional.

No general info out there is the Ultimate Truth. So always take any information you find on internet, social media or print media with a pinch of salt. If you take a deeper look at most content out there, they are usually intended to sell a product or service or sponsered by someone who'd benefit from it.

With so much emphasis on healthy lifestyle its quite natural to get carried away with label claims ... I still come across so many people who choose their oils based on ads or labels claiming that they are zero cholesterol!

This is where we have to be aware of two things - 1) Dietary Fats and Cholesterol are two different things.

2) You don't get cholesterol from plant based products anyways.

It's the fatty acid composition of your oil that matters ⭐

Let me begin by confessing that I am a fan of using a variety of different food and I am not against experimenting recipes adding in a twist of enhanced nutrients. 💫

But...
You don't have to go for "healthy brownies" , "healthy biryani" , fancy "keto Biryani" , "healthy biscuits" etc to ensure you are healthy.

Just because someone says millets are good doesn't have to mean other grains are bad. Just because millets have a good nutrient profile , doesn't have to mean that biscuits made from them are healthier than normal biscuits (they could contain equal amounts of sugar or fats or sodium - reasons why you wanted an alternative in the first place).

Just because whey is one of the ingredients of that cake, doesn't innately make the cake a good protein source.

I might receive hate for saying this but it is what it is...we have one more reason to ditch the good food - bad food list.

Antibody tests can be a very complicated topic to discuss...

So let's break it down and start off with something very simple.

Here is how you distinguish between an allergy and an Intolerance. (Swipe)

If I developed itching on my skin, hives, redness, sore itchy throat, running nose and breathlessness following consumption of a food - this indicates an allergic response.

On the contrary if I experience digestive symptoms like bloating, feeling gassy, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, loose acidic stools, following consumption of a food , then that could indicate a possible Intolerance.

Understanding this difference is crucial when it comes to how you manage these conditions.

Certain digestive symptoms / conditions can however also trigger an immune response and can further damage the digestive tract - Like in Gluten Intolerance.

We'll go slightly deeper into this and discuss the relevance of blood tests that check for intolerance in the next post.

They claim 'Your body is accumulating toxins' and promote sales of "detox" products.

'Your blood sugar levels are the reason for every problem in your life' - promote sale of Continuous Glucose Monitoring devices.

Carbs are bad - so enroll into the keto diet subscription.

Losing weight is tough - promoting the new 21 day weight loss tea.

You have to be aware that most, if not all wellness trends don't come up because there are a section of people constantly caring for your health.

There is a lot of business and sales involved behind the scene...

They simply instill fear, create a problem you don't have and give you a solution you don't need! 🤷‍♀️

Did you know that the tiny bacteria in your gut feed on the fiber we consume through food as it passes through the digestive tract?

Studies have observed how improving intake of fiber through food for as less as 2 weeks can have significant impact on the population of these bacteria.

Why should we care about these bacteria !?

They are not merely living there rent free; they control a lot of functions that happen within your body and helps maintain health by releasing useful metabolites.
