The Importance of Myofascial Release in Frozen Shoulder Treatment

Frozen shoulder, or adhesive capsulitis, is characterized by pain, stiffness, and restricted range of motion in the shoulder joint. Myofascial release plays a crucial role in managing this condition by addressing the underlying fascial restrictions.

How Myofascial Release Helps in Frozen Shoulder:

1. Releases Fascial Tightness:
Tight fascia surrounding the shoulder joint contributes to restricted movement. Myofascial release gently loosens these tissues, restoring flexibility.

2. Improves Range of Motion:
By reducing tension in the fascia and muscles, it allows smoother and pain-free joint movement.

3. Enhances Circulation:
Improved blood flow to the affected area promotes healing and reduces inflammation.

4. Relieves Pain:
Myofascial release alleviates trigger points and knots that contribute to discomfort in frozen shoulder.

5. Supports Muscle Recovery:
It helps balance muscle function around the shoulder, reducing strain on weaker areas and promoting efficient movement.

Why Combine with Physiotherapy?

When integrated with other physiotherapy techniques like stretching, strengthening, and joint mobilization, myofascial release creates a comprehensive approach to manage frozen shoulder effectively.

Unlock your shoulder's potential with targeted myofascial release therapy today!

Fascia is a type of connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, organs, and other structures within the body. It forms a continuous, three-dimensional web throughout the body, providing protection and support while allowing for flexibility and movement.

Fascia consists of collagen fibers, elastin fibers, and a gel-like substance called ground substance. It has the ability to transmit force and tension generated by muscle contractions to other parts of the body. This allows for coordinated movement and efficient distribution of forces throughout the body.

There are different types of fascia found in the body, including superficial fascia, deep fascia, visceral fascia, and cranial fascia. Superficial fascia is found just beneath the skin and helps to insulate the body and store fat. Deep fascia surrounds and separates muscles and helps maintain their shape and function. Visceral fascia surrounds and supports organs, while cranial fascia provides support and protection to the structures of the head.

Fascia also plays a role in maintaining good posture and proper alignment of the body. When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can lead to pain, decreased mobility, and imbalances in the body. Myofascial release techniques, such as massage or stretching, are commonly used to help release tension and restore proper function of the fascia.

In recent years, fascia has gained significant attention among researchers and healthcare professionals for its potential involvement in chronic pain conditions and its role in improving overall movement and athletic performance. This has led to the development of new therapeutic approaches, such as myofascial release therapy and fascial training exercises, which aim to optimize the health and function of the fascial system.

Is the shoulder joint at risk compared to other joints of body?

Yes! It is a ball and socket joint with shallow socket that covers a little portion of the ball. The remaining portion of the ball is unsupported hence some other support is essential to maintain the joint stable. So it requires complete muscle strength and coordination for flawless movements.

Imagine if u are tied and pulled up with elastic threads throughout your body just like this... And really this is how our body systems are connected and influenced by movements and functions of every other system..

Interesting???

Ooops.... This back pain!!!...

The spine bones are like building blocks with gel filled balloons inbetween. The gel packs and blocks are tied with many ropes through out the length but slightly in slacked manner which allow the gel bags to bulge while bending.

Muscles with Unbalanced strength can let the gel bulged out too much... So start strengthening!!!

We all know water 💦 is one of the essential nutrients.. We are made up of various organs🫁🫀🦴💪 and structures packed (yes that's the right term) within connective tissue glue layers and compartments (Connective tissue - a common connecting structure which has no specific shape but connects and communicates every structure of the body). This connective tissue glides and slides🏄⛷️, hence the bodily functions are performed without flaws.. (we will have a seperate post to understand about this connective tissue in a common man's broader aspects😎)

Gliding and sliding need lubrication for soft structures otherwise friction and damage happens? Our body is an amazing system to tranport 🚛 anything to the required spots... U drink water, the body pipelines work on its own and everything will be done without your effort.. An average adult for our weather conditions needs 3 to 4 litres🥤 of water everyday. Are we drinking the required amount?

Have a track on your water intake.. Because after all we can live only in our body😀... So water is simply much more than an essential nutrient!!

In the next post we will see what are the best possible forms of water, our body can utilise the maximum..!!!
Take care...!!
Bye... Bye... Until then..

💡Disease prevention should be the focal point of wellness.

🗣️ And oral hygiene should be the first thing to focus on. But, most people don't focus on their oral health which leads to a lot of chronic body issues.

💪 A good oral hygiene practice should be followed everyday. And of all oral hygiene practices, Oil pulling an ancient ayurveda technique, is the best and offers a lot of benefits.

📖 For more information about this practice, there is a well researched book called "Detox Your Mouth, Heal Your Body" by Dan Greene. This book talks a lot about oral health and is very insightful.

🗣️ You could start your oral hygiene practice with oil pulling, what are your thoughts?

Science about vagus nerve.

THE VAGUS NERVE

A seemingly never-ending branching nerve that connects most of our major organs to our brain 🧠.

It’s the longest cranial nerve in our body, one for the right side and one for the left. And is largely responsible for the connection for its role as a mediator between thinking and feeling, you know our “gut feeling.”

The vagus nerve is the “queen” of the parasympathetic nervous system. The “rest and digest” or the nerve. So the more we do things to activate the nerve (like deep ), the most we combat the effects of its opposer, the sympathetic nervous system - the “fight or flight”, rushing around, have to do something, releasing one.

A few other functions of the vagus nerve, just to name a few:
▪️slows your heart rate and respiration.
▪️lowers blood pressure.
▪️helps with calmness and relaxation.
▪️controls involuntary muscles in the digestive system, therefore, aiding digestion.
▪️taste sensation.
▪️movement function for the muscles in the neck responsible for swallowing and speech.
▪️gut-brain communication.
▪️reduces inflammation.
