With the blessings of Rev. Fr. Dr. M. Swaminathan, Secretary of the College, the Youth Red Cross (YRC) Volunteers of Shift–I, St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore, visited the Geriatric Ward (Elderly Patients Ward) at the Government Headquarters Hospital, Manjakuppam, Cuddalore on 12th March 2026 (Thursday) between 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM. During the visit, the volunteers interacted with the elderly patients, shared kind words, and offered emotional support to them. Dr. A.Rajesh, YRC Programme Officer (Shift–I), motivated the YRC volunteers to actively involve themselves in social service activities and explained the importance of caring for and respecting elderly people in society.

A total of 24 YRC volunteers actively participated in this meaningful service activity. The volunteers distributed Health Power drinks and biscuits to 23 elderly patients, which brought happiness and comfort to them. The patients expressed their gratitude and blessings to the students for their kindness and support. The programme created awareness among the volunteers about the importance of humanity, service, and respect for senior citizens, and it served as a valuable learning experience for the students.

With the blessings of God Almighty, Rev. Fr. Dr. M. Swaminathan, Secretary of the College, and Dr. M. Arumai Selvam, Principal, the Youth Red Cross (YRC) Volunteers of Shift-II, St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore, visited the NULM Old Age Home (Home for the Homeless), Thirupadiripuliyur, Cuddalore, and conducted an awareness programme on social responsibility towards the elderly. The volunteers provided the elderly with necessary items and snacks on 28th January 2026 (Wednesday) between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM. Dr. S. Sangeetha Margreat, YRC Programme Officer (Shift-II), motivated the YRC volunteers to actively involve themselves in social service activities and highlighted the importance of respecting and caring for elderly people. Dr. A. Rajesh, YRC Programme Officer (Shift-I), coordinated the programme. Around 50 YRC volunteers actively participated, and 50 elderly residents benefitted from the programme.

With the blessings of Rev. Fr. Dr. M. Swaminathan, Secretary of the College, the Youth Red Cross Volunteers of Shift-I, St. Joseph's College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore, visited the elderly people, NULM Old Age Home, Manjakuppam, Cuddalore, on 25th October 2024 between 10:15 AM and 11:15 AM. Mr. R.Arulrajan (Roll No: A22BCD01), YRC volunteer (Shift-I), delivered a lecture on the importance of health and personal hygiene for the elderly people. Dr. A.Rajesh, YRC Programme Officer (Shift-I), emphasized the YRC volunteers to be active in social services. Finally, the YRC volunteers distributed blankets and snacks kits. The elderly people at the home shared their happiness of the visit and wholeheartedly thanked the YRC Volunteers for their contributions. In total, 20 YRC volunteers were actively participated. 60 elderly people benefited from the program.

Dr. M.Swaminathan, Secretary, the Youth Red Cross (Shift-I) of St.Joseph's College of Arts & Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore, observed "Elder Abuse Abolition" Pledge (முதியோர் வன்கொடுமை ஒழிப்பு தின உறுதிமொழி) on 20th June, 2024 between 10:45 AM and 11:00 AM. The Programme was presided over by Dr. M.Arumai Selvam, Principal of the College. Dr. J.Jon Arockiaraj, Vice-Principal and Rev. Fr. Dr. A.Alex, Dean of Studies, convened the programme. Dr. I.Savarimuthu, Head, Department of Commerce and Mr. R.Rajamanickam, Physical Director of the College, were involved in the programme. Dr. A.Rajesh, YRC Programme Officer (Shift-I), welcomed the gathering and read out the pledge. The theme of the programme 'Elder Abuse Abolition' is preventing elder abuse. Every human must be a voice for those who may not be able to speak for themselves, educate others, and support organizations working to protect older people. Together, we can create a world where every elder can live their later years with dignity, safety, and respect. More than 100 students participated & benefitted from the programme and taken the pledge.

Swaminathan, Secretary of the College, the Youth Red Cross Volunteers of shift-II, St.Joseph's College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore have visited the Government Head Quarters Hospital, Manjakuppam, Cuddalore to distribute blankets to the Elderly Patients in Geriatric Ward on 8th March, 2024 (Friday) between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Dr. S.Sangeetha Margreat, YRC Programme Officer (shift-II), emphasized the YRC volunteers to be active in social services and elaborated about the importance of elderly people. Dr. A.Rajesh, YRC Programme Officer (shift-I) has coordinated the programme. In a total of 15 YRC volunteers actively participated and 31 elderly patients benefitted from the programme.

Dr. M.Swaminathan, Secretary of the College, the Youth Red Cross Volunteers of (shift-II), St.Joseph's College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), have visited to Annai Sathya Arasu Kuzhanthaikal Kapagam, Semmandalam, to celebrate the Christmas with the childrens on 23rd December, 2023 between 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. YRC volunteers had a great time with them and they distributed snacks & gifts to the childrens. The Programme was directed by Dr. M.Arumai Selvam, Principal of the College & Dr. J.Jon Arockiaraj, Vice-Principal of the College. The Youth Red Cross Volunteers of shift-II, St. Joseph's College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore, visited & organized awareness programme on "Green Environment" among the school students in Shri Varadham Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Venugopalapuram, Cuddalore on 28th July, 2023 between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM. Mrs.P.Dhanalakshmi, Headmistress, felicitated the programme. Mr.G.Sairam, Forest Officer (Rtd), Cuddalore, delivered the lecture on the importance of Green Environment. Youth Red Cross volunteers have been contributed 12 saplings to the school. Dr.A.Rajesh, YRC Programme Officer (shift-I) emphasized the YRC volunteers to be active in social service. Mrs. A.Arokiamary, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Dr. L.Jethruth Emelda Mary, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Mr. L.Karthik Raj (Roll.No: A21CMDA28), YRC volunteer (shift-I) have delivered the Lecture on the Importance of Health and Personal Hygiene for the elder people. Youth Red Cross of St. Joseph's College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore, visited, Ignite Elders Home, Tsunami Nagar, Cuddalore O.T on 31st March, 2023 between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM. Mr. M.K. Baskar, President, Aged People Association, Nellikuppam has emphasized the volunteers to take special care of the elder people in our society. DR. A.Jose Magesh, Director, Ignite Elders Home, Cuddalore O.T was motivated and appreciated the volunteers for their involvements in social activities.
