🌍 World Mental Health Day 2025
Theme: “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies”
This year’s theme resonates deeply with what we recently witnessed in Dehradun after the devastating cloudburst and floods. Homes were washed away, belongings lost, and countless residents were left in shock and despair, their mental and physical wellbeing severely impacted.
Amidst this catastrophe, the National Medical Organization (NMO), local doctors, and various NGOs came together to set up relief and mental health support camps.
I feel truly humbled to have been able to offer my services this sunday as a mental health professional during this critical time. It was a reminder that in disasters, healing goes beyond rebuilding homes — it includes rebuilding hope, resilience, and emotional strength. 💚
Let’s continue working towards making mental health services accessible for all, especially in times of crisis.

"And in the end, I believe that we don't need to do anything to be loved.
We spend our lives trying to seem prettier, smarter.
But I realized two things.

Those who love us see us with their hearts and attribute qualities to us beyond those we really have.

And those who don't want to love us will never be satisfied with all our efforts.

Yes, I really believe that it is important to leave our imperfections alone.
They are precious to understand those who see us with the heart. "

Are you aware of your responses.
What are you prone to when you are triggered?
Do you get into rage, attempting to control your partner?
Do you become busy?
Do you get anxious?
Do you become silent?
Do you avoid confrontation?
Do you become dependent?
Do you get over-apologetic?

These are all examples of , , , and .

Take a pause and notice.
These steps may be helpful.

Breathe, place a hand on your body where you feel your anxiety/fear.
Maintain eye contact.
KNOW that they are not your enemy, and they are not your primary abuser. Keep this in mind as you are working through your trigger.

Take time-out if it helps.
Take a break, and allow your a chance to calm down.
You may choose to write about the experience or go for a walk.
This will give you a chance to slow down and refocus.
Accept and let your supporters and family know your vulnerability.

Your triggers are your responsibility. Seek professional help to heal the trauma that is causing you to react and hurt the people you love the most.
