PART 3 is Cord clamping and cord cutting which are both important aspects of the birth process, particularly related to the umbilical cord, which connects the baby to the placenta during pregnancy.

1. Cord Clamping:
Cord clamping refers to the process of pinching or clamping off the umbilical cord after the baby is born, typically before it is cut.

2. Cord Cutting:
Cord cutting is the physical process of severing the umbilical cord after it has been clamped. The cord is usually cut using sterile scissors or a specialized cord cutter.

After clamping the cord, a healthcare provider will cut it just a few inches from the baby’s belly button. The remaining portion of the cord will be left to dry up and eventually fall off, leaving the baby’s belly button as the site where the cord was once attached.
