I have learned over the years that some of the most key decisions we make, in the healthcare sector, in leadership, or in life, do not occur when we are in a rush or feel under pressure. They come from a place of calm.
Life teaches you that you should never look at the big picture through a mind clouded with stress, noise, or urgency. A composed mind, however, is able to take a breath, reflect and evaluate clearly. It helps us to consider the alternatives carefully, foresee the outcome, and make decisions that are not only efficient, but significant and sustainable.
Leadership isnโt about reacting the fastest, itโs about responding the wisest. It is all about being able to realise that the greatest power is sometimes restraint, patience, and thought. A serene brain not only decides, but often takes the correct decisions.
Therefore, be it the intricate medical cases, team management, or even making some personal decisions, always bear in mind: breathe, rely on your experience and allow the sense of calm to prevail. The wisest decisions are made by individuals who take time to have a clear picture before making moves.
