The idea that "women are more emotional" has been repeated for generations, but science tells a very different story.
In this video, Dr. Tina Gupta MD, Psychiatry AIIMS Delhi, breaks down where this misconception really comes from. She explains how culture, social expectations, and upbringing shape the way different genders express emotions. It's not that women feel more—it's that society often gives them more permission to show it, while actively discouraging open emotional expression in men.
Understanding the truth behind emotional expression helps us build healthier relationships, reduce stigma, and communicate more honestly. Everyone experiences strong emotions—how we're taught to express them is what differs.
Looking for a safe, supportive space to explore your own emotional wellbeing?

Medication: Stimulant and non-stimulant medications can help improve focus and reduce impulsivity.

Hi! I am Dr. Tina Gupta a psychiatrist, mom of two teens and I share about women's mental health issues. Follow for more.

Did you ever try to nail why you have terrible mood swings, crying, irritation, rage, severe anxiety  just a week ahead of your periods? Or maybe your PMS makes it hard to go to work or college, disrupts your life and ruins relationships? If YES then you may have PMDD * PRE MENSTRUAL DYSPHORIC DISORDER.
Here is a list of symptoms which are tracked for a diagnosis of PMDD-

⚡Anger, rage, irritability
⚡Depression, hopelessness, worthlessness
⚡Anxiety, tension, edginess
⚡Crying, feeling overwhelmed
⚡Not interested in your daily activity
⚡Difficulty concentrating
⚡Lack of energy, fatigue, lethargy
⚡Changes in appetite, binge eating, food cravings
⚡Excessive sleep or insomnia
⚡Physical symptoms like breast tenderness, joint pains, headaches, edema

Most women as well as the doctors they see will neglect PMDD as the often media hyped " me**es moodiness"  or PMS. Unfortunately I have seen in my practice with women clients that mood disorders in various phases of a women's hormonal life get dismissed in sexist jokes and misunderstanding. PMDD is one such misdiagnosed overlooked women mental health issue. It is seen in 5 to 8 % menstruating women with peak symptoms starting in Luteal Phase nearly 10 days before to 2 days after start of me**es.

What should you do when month after month one suffers from PMDD?

First find a PMDD Mood Tracker to identify symptoms.
Next meet a doctor who treats PMDD and get recommended meds
Most important add lifestyle changes, talk therapy, nutrition in your self care package.
