Smoking can lead to a variety of oral health problems, ranging from cosmetic issues to serious dental conditions. One of the most common problems faced by smokers is stained teeth. The ni****ne and tar present in to***co can cause teeth to become yellow or brown, leading to a less-than-ideal smile.

Few Tips on Oral Hygiene
Few tips on oral hygiene you need to maintain if you wish to have a happy and healthy smile.
1. Clean your tongue: Copper tongue crapers or stainless steel whatever suits your needs. Be extra gentle. Aggressive scraping can damage taste buds and cause bleeding.
2. Brush your teeth, at least 2 minutes around each tooth surface and also at gum line.
Extra tip:
• Use soft bristle toothbrush.
• Change Brush head every 2 months.
• If using an electric toothbrush, don’t scrub. It’s doing the scrubbing for you.
3. Floss: or waterpik any although flossing is more effective. You can use waterpik, but that does not replace flossing.

How often should you change your toothbrush?
• Not every six months
• Not once a year
• Not when the bristles start bending
If you use an old toothbrush for too long, not only is it unhygienic, but can cause irreversible damange to your gums (recession) and your teeth (abstraction).
So the advice is here:
• You should change your toothbrush every 4-6 weeks.
• Change your toothbrush after any sickness (you don’t want the bacteria or virus etc to keep hanging out on the brush)

In my practise amid pandemic, I have seen many cases of dry mouth, micro cracks in teeth, swollen gums, rough mucosa, and dental decay.
Its pretty significant the impact that COVID has had on not only oral health, but also facial health – headaches, ringing ears, etc.
Reason for this:
Masks:)- stressful for many-increase in dry mouth, less oxygen.
Stress – Increase in teeth grinding, muscle tension, oral acidity levels (due to medications, eating disorders, irregularity in water intake and many more).

How to reverse this:

1) Find a dentist you trust and connect with.
2) Eat dental detergent foods: celery, cucumber, green tea, apple etc.
3) Alkalize your mouth: warm water rinse, baking soda rinses, hydroxyapatite toothpaste, oil pulling (coconut) and tongue scraping.
4) Get a night guard: it protects your teeth from further wear and tear.

I hope this information is helpful! You can share this with anyone who has endured stress during this last year and a half.

Persistent Bad Breath may be a warning sign of Gum disease.
• Control the acidity in your mouth
⚠Are you snaking constantly? Residue from snacks are substrates for bacteria that produces acid, causing imbalance of oral microbiome resulting in Bad Breath.
• Get proper oral care
• Regular professional checkups and scheduled cleanings with your dentist
• Drink lots of water
• Have a great Morning and Night routine.
