Aids is the worlds second biggest killer of teenagers! 2.1 Million people were affected by HIV/AIDS in 2015

Today, our volunteers in Bihar & Jharkhand had aids awareness activities! They rallied across their communities, did role play on the myths over HIV/AIDS and precautions, while our team members conducted a special session in schools on HIV/AIDS.

Schools teachers, faculty and students pledged to collectively raise awareness and Stop AIDS.

Kachindamoto was told that she had been chosen because she was "good with people", and that she was now the chief, "whether I liked it or not", she recalls. She duly donned the traditional beads, red robes and a leopard skin headband, and started touring the rows of mud-walled, grass -thatched homes to meet her people.

Kachindamoto was shocked when she saw girls as young as 12 with babies and teenaged husbands, and was soon ordering the people to give up their ways."I told them: 'Whether you like it or not, I want these marriages to be terminated.'"

Chief Kachindamoto has broken up 850 child marriages in three years, and banned the sexual initiations of young girls.

'The Haryana government will replicate the Madhya Pradesh government’s ambitious Lado Abhiyan scheme, which aims to eradicate child marriage.'

The fight against child marriage in India needs to keep going as we continue to have the highest number of child marriages in the world. Glad to know state governments are taking up schemes from each other to strngthen the fight against this practice.
