WHY IMAGING BEFORE BRACES??
This pt referred for OPG- ceph pre-orthodontic treatment; to our surprise there was not one but two cysts developing w.r.t. the 18 & 48 region. Though at DDI, it was diagnosed as cyst (dentigerous/ keratocystic odontogenic tumor) but there are limitations of 2D imaging to evaluate the bucco-lingual extent.

WHY DIGITAL DENTAL IMAGING??
Follow-up was done after 10 days but there was no biopsy report available as pt had not been operated yet.
It was followed by CBCT somewhere and everyone focussed on lesion in 48 because it was so obvious.
It was only at DIGITAL DENTAL IMAGING the presence of another lesion in 18 region as well was diagnosed, followed up and oral surgeon informed about the same prior to surgery.

Occlusal radiograph along with digital OPG remains an alternative to non-affording patients for localisation of impacted teeth, diagnosis of cysts and cortices expansion, fracture of anterior teeth and alveolus, cleft palate and detection of sub-mandibular salivary stones, periapical region of the anterior teeth and nasopalatine canal evaluation.
