World Kidney Day Celebration | 12 March 2026

Max Super Specialty Hospital, Saket proudly celebrated World Kidney Day 2026 on 12th March with enthusiastic participation from RWA Associations, clinicians, and hospital staff, coming together to promote the message of “Kidney Health for All.”

The event began with a ceremonial lamp lighting followed by insightful talks from our expert clinicians highlighting the importance of kidney health, preventive care, and early detection of kidney diseases by Dr. Anant Kumar & Dr. Kulwant Singh. An engaging awareness skit by the Nutrition & Dietetics team helped simplify important lifestyle practices that support kidney health.

A special highlight of the program was an interactive quiz session, where participants actively engaged, tested their knowledge about kidney health, and won exciting gifts. The session created an energetic and informative environment, encouraging everyone to become ambassadors for kidney health awareness.

The program concluded with inspiring patient stories, reminding us of the power of resilience and the importance of organ donation in giving patients a second chance at life.

Through such initiatives, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Saket continues its commitment to spreading awareness, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and building a healthier community.

It was a pleasure to visit Max Hospital Dehradun on the occasion of the launch of their Robotic Kidney Transplant Program—an important step towards bringing advanced, minimally invasive transplant surgery to patients in the region.

I had the opportunity to interact closely and proctor Dr Deepak Garg for robotic kidney transplantation. The operation went well and whole team was very receptive. It was encouraging to see the team’s enthusiasm and commitment toward advancing robotic transplant surgery.

Congratulations to Dr Deepak Garg and the entire team at Max Hospital Dehradun for this significant initiative. I wish them great success as they continue to expand access to cutting-edge kidney transplant care and improve outcomes for patients.

🌍 World Kidney Day 2026

Protect Your Kidneys, Protect Your Life

Kidneys are small but powerful organs that perform life-saving functions every day — filtering waste from the blood, regulating blood pressure, maintaining electrolyte balance, and supporting overall health.

Yet kidney diseases often develop silently and are detected only in advanced stages.

On World Kidney Day, let us raise awareness about protecting kidney health and preventing kidney diseases.

🔹 Nearly 10% of the global population is affected by Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
🔹 The major causes are Diabetes and Hypertension.
🔹 Early detection and lifestyle changes can prevent serious complications.

How to Protect Your Kidneys

✔ Control blood sugar and blood pressure
✔ Stay well hydrated
✔ Maintain a healthy weight
✔ Reduce salt intake
✔ Avoid unnecessary painkiller use
✔ Get regular health check-ups

Kidney diseases such as infections, stones, and tumors can often be prevented or treated if detected early.

For patients with advanced kidney failure, dialysis and kidney transplantation provide life-saving treatment options. Promoting organ donation awareness can help save thousands of lives.

Let us take a pledge this World Kidney Day to protect our kidneys and encourage others to do the same.

💙 Healthy kidneys are the foundation of a healthy life.

I was honored to be invited by University Hospital Basel, Switzerland, to participate in the 4th UroArt Symposium on Kidney Cancer. It was a privilege to contribute to the faculty through a live demonstration of a Robotic Partial Nephrectomy and by delivering a lecture on "Complex Partial Nephrectomy: Tips and Tricks." Additionally, I had the opportunity to lead a Master Class on the subject.

Beyond the operating theater, the symposium offered invaluable academic and social exchanges with esteemed global leaders, including Inderbir Gill, Alex Mottrie, Arnuf Stenzl, Paolo Gontero, Axel Bex, Helge Seifert ,Abbi Hosseini and Marianne Brehmer.
We concluded the trip with a memorable excursion to the Engelberg-Titlis Ski Resort. A truly wonderful experience combining high-level surgical innovation with the stunning landscapes of Switzerland.

International Collaboration in Robotic Renal Transplantation 🤖🩺

It was a pleasure hosting the Urology team from Jakarta, Indonesia at our centre for a focused academic visit to our Robotic Renal Transplant Programme.

Over two enriching days, the visiting team observed multiple complex procedures including one robotic kidney transplant and engaged in detailed clinical and surgical discussions. Such interactions not only promote skill sharing but also strengthen global partnerships in advancing patient care through minimally invasive transplant surgery.

We are proud to contribute to international training and knowledge exchange in the field of robotic transplantation.
Looking forward to continued collaboration!

A Journey from Lifelong Struggle to Continence 🌟

An 18-year-old young man came to us after enduring multiple rectovesical procedures since birth. Over the years, he was left with complete incontinence and a large rectovesical fistula, despite having a continent Mitrofanoff diversion along with a long segment bulbo-membranous urethral stricture.
The constant urinary leakage through the re**um had taken a huge physical and emotional toll.

After detailed evaluation, our team performed a rectovesical fistula repair along with urethroplasty with gracilis muscle interposition — a complex but rewarding reconstructive procedure which took almost 8 hours.

✨ The outcome?

The fistula is successfully closed
No re**al urinary leakage
Was finally able to pass urine per urethra naturally.
His smile had returned as he was now dry, continent, and confident

Finally able to live a normal, happy, continent life

This case is a reminder that even after years of failed surgeries, hope is never lost. With the right expertise, planning, and perseverance, lives can truly be transformed.

💙 From lifelong incontinence to continence — a new beginning.
