Eyeway

Eyeway We are an interactive information hub on living Life with Blindness. We disseminate information by way of Communication, Advocacy, Research and Training.

We at Score Foundation believe:
1. The problem is not blindness; it’s the thinking
2. Disability is God given, but handicap is man-made
3. Knowledge has the power to change lives
4. Blind and visually impaired people are a part of the human resource of the country. The need is to invest in them rather than merely providing for them
5. There is a need to focus on possibilities and potential rather than disability

Our experience over the years indicates that blind people largely exist in the fringes of our community. The real problem is not being blind it is the perception that come attached with it. Limited understanding and knowledge about blindness is the problem. We work towards changing perceptions, of sighted as well as blind people themselves. It is perception that impacts the kind of education blind people have access to. It is perceptions that determine the way parents respond to their children’s blindness. It is perception that determines how the society responds to blind people. It is perception that defines how the government looks at blind people. Perceptions determine how government rolls out its policy, plans and programmes. With support from Hans Foundation we are trying to impact these perceptions through a series of interactive sessions with various stakeholders. If you would like to organize such a session in your organization/locality reach out to us at scorefoundation@eyeway.org

As part of our Lucknow outreach, the team from Score Foundation visited Jeevan Path School in Phoola, Amethi, with the support of Sahyata Foundation.

The school is run by Chandreshekhar Shukla and currently supports around 20 blind students, including both boys and girls. The institution focuses on holistic development and provides training in areas such as yoga, music, and digital tools to help students build confidence and independence.

During the visit, George Abraham and Jitendra Gupta interacted with the students and spoke about potential career opportunities for persons with visual impairments. They also offered guidance on education pathways, skill development, and the importance of self-belief while pursuing their aspirations.

The interaction created a warm and encouraging environment where students were able to ask questions and learn about possibilities beyond their immediate surroundings.

When existing frameworks felt limiting, Dr. Urvi Jangam chose to reimagine them.

Bringing together German literature and Indian aesthetic theory, she explored how Rasa—often interpreted through visual experience—could be expanded to include non-visual ways of perceiving and feeling.

This led to her powerful concept of Adrish Rasa—a theory of non-visual aesthetics that challenges how we understand art, literature, and sensory experience.

In this episode of Eyeway Conversations, Dr. Urvi Jangam shares how disability can reshape knowledge itself—opening new, inclusive ways of thinking and interpreting the world.
