Today, October 10th, we recognize World Mental Health Day with a critical focus on supporting mental health during crises.
More than 1 billion people worldwide live with mental health disorders
โ 1 in 5 individuals in conflict-affected areas experiences a mental health condition
โ 1 in 7 adolescents (ages 10-19) faces a mental disorder
โ Half of all mental illnesses begin by age 14
Despite this burden, access to care remains severely limited. The treatment gap for severe mental health disorders in children and adolescents exceeds 50% in the Americas, with a critical shortage of specialized professionals in low- and middle-income countries.
๐ช๐ต๐ ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐: Humanitarian emergenciesโfrom natural disasters to conflictsโcreate profound mental health needs. Alongside essential provisions like food, water, and medicine, mental health and psychosocial support are vital for survivors to cope, recover, and rebuild.
Early intervention, evidence-based community support, and effective medical communication are essential to building resilience and ensuring accessible care for all, especially the most vulnerable.
Through strategic content and communication, we support efforts to amplify awareness and reach those who need it most. If you're looking to strengthen your mental health communication and outreach, let's connect.
There is no health without mental health.
