The Department of Anatomy, National Dental College, Derabassi celebrated World Anatomy Day on 8th December 2025 under the guidance of Dr. Kuntal Vashishtha (HOD) and Mr. David Solomon (Lecturer). The event, titled “Anatomania,” aimed to emphasize the importance of anatomy as the foundation of medical and dental education.

The program was graced by the Chairman sir Col. GS Sandhu, Principal sir Dr. Vinay S Dua, and HODs of various departments, with active participation from undergraduate students and faculty. Activities included an inaugural address highlighting the clinical relevance of anatomy, an anatomy quiz, poster presentations, model and chart exhibitions, and academic learning stations to strengthen practical understanding. Creative anatomy-based art and cultural performances by 1st and 2nd year students added enthusiasm to the event. Winners were awarded prizes and certificates during the prize distribution ceremony. The celebration concluded with a valedictory session appreciating the collective efforts of students and faculty.

The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics,
National Dental College & Hospital, Dera Bassi, organized a
Continuing Dental Education (CDE) program and Hands on titled
“Redefining Endodontic Practice: The Rotary Revolution”
on 21st January 2026, in association with Dentsply Sirona.
The program aimed to update participants on recent advances
in rotary endodontics and was attended by faculty members and
postgraduate students. Dr. Avinash Patil (MDS – Conservative
Dentistry & Endodontics) served as the Guest Speaker and
delivered an informative lecture covering diagnosis, treatment
planning, canal preparation, cleaning and shaping, threedimensional obturation, and management of endodontic
procedural errors, supported by clinical case discussions.
Following the lecture session, a hands-on demonstration was
conducted providing practical exposure to contemporary rotary
instrumentation systems. The program was interactive,
informative, and well received by all participants, contributing
significantly to enhancement of clinical knowledge and skills in
endodontic practice.

National Dental College and Hospital (NDCH) marked a major milestone today with the inauguration of its advanced Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) system. The event was graced by the esteemed Guest of Honour, Ex-DGP Rajdeep Singh Gill, along with Principal and Director Dr. Vinay S. Dua and Chairman Col. GS Sandhu.

The new CBCT system, offering high-resolution 3D imaging, is set to revolutionize diagnostic procedures in implantology, orthodontics, and oral surgery while reducing radiation exposure for patients.

Dr. Vinay S. Dua, Principal and Director, expressed his enthusiasm about the addition, highlighting its role in elevating both patient care and educational standards at NDCH. Col. GS Sandhu, Chairman, emphasized the importance of such innovations in positioning NDCH as a leader in dental education and healthcare.

The ceremony included a live demonstration of the CBCT system, showcasing its capabilities to support precise and personalized treatment plans. NDCH continues its commitment to excellence in dental care and education.

Prosthodontist Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at National Dental College on 22nd January 2026, with active participation from students of all professional years.
A series of engaging competitions were organized, including Dental Pictionary, Best Out of Dental Materials, and Slogan Writing, encouraging creativity, knowledge, and teamwork among students.
The event was graciously presided over by our Worthy Chairman, Col. G. S. Sandhu, and Respected Principal, Dr. Vinay Dua, who motivated the students and distributed certificates of appreciation to the participants and winners.
The celebration was attended by Heads of Departments from various specialties, and the efforts of the organizing team and students were widely appreciated, making the event a meaningful and memorable one.

The Farewell Function – “The Final Extraction 2k25” – was ceremoniously organised at the National Dental College & Hospital to bid an affectionate valediction to the illustrious batch of 2020. The junior students enthralled the audience with a series of cultural performances, while the outgoing graduates graced the ramp with poise and dignity, following which a spectrum of honorary titles was conferred upon them. A formal farewell address, imbued with nostalgia and inspiration, was delivered to mark the occasion. The Chairman and Principal of the institution extended their heartfelt benedictions and wished the students prosperity in all their future endeavours. The event culminated with the reverberation of the National Anthem, bringing the celebrations to a dignified close.

The day opened with the Orientation Programme, featuring a brief historical overview of National Dental College Through the Ages and a succinct presentation on Dos and Don’ts of the College Journey by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur. The proceedings advanced to the White Coat Ceremony, where Dr. Rohini Dua expounded upon the relevance of the white coat, followed by the formal Oath Ceremony. An incisive Anti-Ragging Lecture was then delivered by Dr. Aman Sachdeva (Member, DCI), stressing the institution’s ethos of safety and dignity. The programme concluded with closing remarks by the Chairman Sir and Principal Sir, and the event formally ended with the National Anthem.

Proud moment for the institution!

The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics in association with IDA Mohali conducted a Dental Awareness and Orthodontic Screening Camp at Maharishi Dayanand Public School, Daria, Chandigarh on 18th November 2025. The program included an interactive session on oral hygiene, the importance of early orthodontic care, and prevention of dental problems.

Dr Ruchika Batra and Dr Sanjeevani (PG Students) and Dr Naina Sharda and Dr Pavitra (Interns) screened students for common orthodontic issues such as crowding, spacing, habits, and jaw discrepancies. Individual advice and information brochures were provided to students and teachers.

The school appreciated the department’s efforts, and the camp successfully promoted oral health awareness and early detection of orthodontic needs among children.

On 1st Nov,2025, members of Committee of sexual harassment of women of National Dental College and Hospital successfully attended the training on POSH ACT 2013 under UGC and AICTE regulation. This act aims to prevent and prohibit sexual harassment of women at work place. Certificates of 1-day training competition were issued and an Internal Committee was formed under the Section-4 of the Sexual Harrassment Act of 2013.
