Profile of Dr. Lalit Agrawal
Lalit Agrawal was born in a lower middle class family on 28th August at a small place Yavatmal, Maharasthtra, His father was a strictly honest sales tax officer. He was a topper throughout his academics. In his early days, he saw very tough days, but never complained about anything. Just took the things in hand and fought the situations. He is actually raised by her mother who was a very sharp lady and raised 5 children very smartly. Lalit used to ride a bicycle around 10 kms daily with his sister sitting in front of the bicycle to reach the school. Earlier his interest was to go into automobile engineering because cars always attracted him but at that time automobile engineering was not introduced as an academic course here in India. According to his father`s wish, he chose to become a doctor. He cracked PMT with a very good score and chose MGM Medical College Indore to pursue MBBS. During college days, he used to go to Gokuldas Hospital, A reputed hospital of Dr. Gokuldas Agrawal in Indore only. Dr. Gokuldas was a genius ophthalmologist and Dr. Lalit`s real uncle and a very much known name in the state. He can be called one of the pioneers of medical establishment in Indore city. Gokuldas hospital is nowadays taken care of by both of his sons, Dr. Sanjay Gokuldas, who is also an ophthalmologist and Mr. Aanand Gokuldas, Who looks after the hospital whole and sole. Dr. Lalit learnt a lot about medical life from Dr. Gokuldas. He is one of the mentors of Dr. Lalit. When Dr. Lalit was in the final year, he got married in a well settled business family in 1981. Savita (his wife) pushed all her efforts to put her husband in a good position. Dr. Lalit became a father in 1982 when he was blessed with a baby boy. Later Dr. Lalit did MD in OBG (obstetrics and gynaecology) from Gulbarga, Karnataka. Life was not easy there either. New family, a small child and the pressure of doing masters was tremendous but he overcame all obstacles. Language barrier was a big problem for a boy who was brought up in M.P. He was not that good in or kannada, so he faced a language problem there for sometime. but since he was a fast learner, he learnt english quite fast. During his MD, he found his actual mentor Dr. Sarvottam Rao. Dr. Lalit won Dr. Rao`s heart by his hard work and high IQ. He became Dr. Rao`s favourite student in no time. Dr. Rao is the real mentor for him. He passed out from gulbarga medical college on a very high merit. Once he replied to his viva examiner that the answer that you are expecting from me, for that answer, question should be framed like this. Examiner`s ego got hurt and he told Dr. lalit later that if you wouldn`t misbehave with me I made up my mind to give you the gold medal but you are too proud of your knowledge so you lost it. Dr. lalit was offered a govt. job in Indian Railways but he didn't accept the offer being a highly self esteemed guy. He never wanted to do a job under anybody. He came back to Indore again and started working here. One day, he met a Dr. in Gokuldas hospital. He came from a very small place called Dhar. he had a nursing home set up there in Dhar. he offered it to Dr. Lalit to come to his nursing home and join as a consultant. Being an easy guy, Dr. Lalit came to Dhar and started his real struggle in Dhar. That doctor who invited Dr. Lalit to his nursing home told him to quit because of unknown reasons. Maybe he soon realised that Dr. Lalit is a huge fish to keep in his small cage. Anyways, Dr. lalit didn`t lose hope and started doing his consultancy in a rented one room premises. His wife Savita belonged from a very rich family, never took a glass of water from her hand. She always has servants around her for everything. She was always a sweetheart to her father but she supported her husband in each and every manner. She struggled no less than her husband. Since Dr. Lalit was a brilliant doctor and an honest man because of his bloodline. He took around 10 years of non-stop hard work to establish his name around the district. In 1996 he took a premises on rent to start his own nursing home in the name of Shri Krishna Hospital. He started with 10 beds and within a span of 5 years he bought a land in the outskirts of Dhar for a hospital purpose. He started a 20 bed hospital there. It was not easy to start a hospital. He bought the land in 1998 but the rivals who were stronger than Dr. Lalit made him struggle for around 10 years to get the permission to construct a hospital on that land. Once again his wife Savita made it possible for her husband through her efforts. Savita is a brave heart lady who went out of the home and met some people in the town and shared the issue. Luckily some people came forward and helped her to overcome this obstacle. She once again proved that she is the real backbone of her husband. When (NDVH) was not that common in Madhya Pradesh, He learnt the art of NDVH from his mentor, Dr. Rao once again and left his competitors way behind by his skills and the surgery that was ahead of his time. He took so much of perfection in NDVH that he left doing obstetrics work to master more and more in it. Dr. Lalit was the first doctor of Madhya Pradesh, who started doing NDVH in the state. He can be called a pioneer of NDVH in Madhya Pradesh. Till now he has done more than 25000 cases with the mortality rate of NIL. Not a single patient lost her life in these 25000 cases. During all his professional life, he never cheated any patient, not overcharged any of his patients. Since most of the patients came from a financially poor background as well as uneducated too as Dhar is a highly tribal of western madhya pradesh. He is a blessing for all the patients of his vicinity. He got many offers from places like Delhi, Mumbai and even from African Countries too, but his love towards his patients made him stay here only. Not only doing surgeries. He has also trained more than 20 young lads in NDVH. He is such a reputed name that he never tried to market himself, and young doctors come to him to learn the art of NDVH surgery. Now his son took the responsibility to spread his name. It`s a huge due that Dr. Lalit deserves from society.
