🌟 A True Act of Heroism at Blood Centre AH GMC Doda! 🌟

Today, we witnessed a moment that truly defines what it means to serve humanity. At Blood Centre AH GMC Doda, we faced a critical situation — a patient admitted in the Department of Surgery urgently required a rare AB Negative blood unit. Unfortunately, this life-saving blood group was not available in our stock.

In this crucial hour, Dr. Sumat ul Khurshid, Head of the Department Blood Centre, reached out to the MBBS students for help — and that’s when a hero stepped forward. 💪🩸

Without a second thought, Mr. Dawood Dar, an MBBS student at GMC Doda, responded immediately to this noble call. He came forward and donated the rarest and most precious gift — a unit of AB Negative blood — to save the patient’s life. ❤️

His selfless gesture reflects the true spirit of medical service — compassion, responsibility, and dedication toward humanity.

After his noble donation, and on the directions of HoD Blood Centre Dr Sumat ul Khurshid he was honoured with a Blood Donation Certificate presented by Dr. Mahvesh Sheikh (Senior Resident), acknowledging his heroic contribution. 🏅✨

We applaud and celebrate Mr. Dawood Dar for setting a remarkable example for others to follow. His willingness to step up in a critical moment has given someone hope, strength, and a chance to live. 🙌

Blood Donation Camp Organised on the Eve of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day – 1st October 2025
Theme: "Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives"
On the eve of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, a Blood Donation Camp was successfully organised on 1st October 2025 at the Blood Centre, Associated Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC) Doda, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Doda.
The camp was inaugurated by the Worthy Principal, GMC Doda, Dr. Rakesh Bhal, along with Dr. Sumat ul Khurshid, Head of the Department, Blood Centre, AH GMC Doda. Also present on the occasion were the Block Medical Officer, Ghat Doda, staff members from the CMO Office Doda, and dedicated personnel from the Blood Centre, AH GMC Doda.
The event aligned with this year's theme:

Timely Support by Blood Centre, Associated Hospital, GMC Doda

The Blood Centre, Associated Hospital, Government Medical College Doda extended timely and life-saving support by providing a required unit of blood to a young girl battling thalassemia.

Thanks to the swift response and dedicated efforts of the Blood Centre team, the child received the necessary transfusion without delay, highlighting the critical role of voluntary blood donation in saving lives—especially for patients with chronic conditions like thalassemia who depend on regular transfusions.

Such acts of service reinforce the importance of a strong and responsive blood donation system in our healthcare framework.

Blood Donation Camp Held at Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah, Doda

On 24th September 2025, a Blood Donation Camp was successfully organized at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bhaderwah, Doda, as part of the Nationwide Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Drive, which is being observed from 17th September to 2nd October 2025. This drive also includes the celebration of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (NVBDD) on 1st October 2025.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from voluntary donors for Indian Armed Forces, CRPF, JK Police, Healthcare Staff, and the Local Community. The Blood Centre, Associated Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC) Doda deputed its team to work in collaboration with the SDH Bhaderwah staff, ensuring the smooth conduct of the Blood Donation Camp.

On the inaugural day of the National Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Drive—which commenced on 17th September 2025 and will continue till 2nd October 2025—the Blood Centre Staff of AH GMC Doda were felicitated with Mementos and Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their unwavering commitment and exemplary service.

The honour was bestowed by the Worthy Principal of GMC Doda, in the gracious presence of the Head of Department, Blood Centre, AH GMC Doda, and other Senior Faculty Members of GMC Doda.
