Rusks have become an integral part of our lives. We couple it with tea in the morning considering it's healthy or just because it's a habit.

Is it really healthy?
Rusk is often considered healthy as we are made to believe that it has lower calories.
But,

๐Ÿšจ When 100 g of rusk was compared with the cake it was found that rusk not only had greater calories but also greater sugar.

What's unhealthy about Rusk?

๐ŸšจThe major component used in rusk is Maida.
Even if the packet says no maida to confuse the buyers, the composition still includes it. (check image 1)

๐Ÿšจ Refined oil is used in their making which is very bad for our health. (check image 1)

๐Ÿšจ How are these rusks remain fresh then?Packaged food is full of preservatives' which deteriorate our heart health. The packet you buy contains a lot of additives, artificial flavours, etc to keep the product fresh till opened! (Image 1)

๐Ÿšจ Suji rusk is just another "branded health alternative" that's equally bad. Don't fall for the gimmics.

๐Ÿšจ Just 3 rusks provide us 11 gm of sugar.
A good South Indian breakfast would be a great alternative to 3 rusks combined!

๐Ÿšจ Also attaching terms like Gluten-free to rusks is yet another marketing technique that plays with the minds of innocent customers. Rusk, any Rusk - is just hardened bread with loads of sugar and preservatives. ( check image 2)

Hi, I am Manish - a corporate slave and a trek enthu! Lockdown had been pretty hard on me, starting from weight gain to being covid positive. I almost lost myself being at such a young age. As soon as I recovered from covid and checked my blood parameters, I was shocked to see nothing in shape and limits. My body was absolutely out of my control. A decent protein intake with the right food combinations is absolutely possible.
Around 20-30 gm of protein in each meal should be suffice. Here are some of the best!

The idea is to include a VARIETY of each in your DAILY MEALS and about 40% in each meal!

Ideally, your daily intake needs to be 0.8 to 1 GRAM of protein for each kilogram of your body weight. (Approximate value. increases with varying factors)

So if my weight is 48 kg, I need to consume 40-50 gm of protein daily.

The amount of protein in 100 gm of dairy, lentils, beans, or any given source will vary. But so does the serving :)
Simply remember, a variety of meals will balance the protein daily.
