Student-Led Awareness at Tadong Senior Secondary School

The Nasha Mukt Sikkim Abhiyaan program held at Tadong Senior Secondary School on 18th September 2025 turned out to be one of the most impactful sessions so far, owing to the proactive involvement of the students themselves in conducting the proceedings of the workshop.

From the very beginning, the young participants displayed remarkable enthusiasm and leadership. The welcome address, master of ceremony, skit play, and vote of thanks were all confidently carried out by the students, reflecting their sense of ownership and commitment towards the cause.

A particularly moving moment came when two courageous students voluntarily shared their personal experiences of exposure to substance misuse. They openly spoke about the reasons that drew them towards substances, the challenges they faced in maintaining the habit, and most importantly, how their parents were able to connect with their hearts and souls to help them break free. Their powerful testimony revealed that the pain they endured was more emotional than physical, and that genuine parental understanding and empathy can play a transformative role in changing behavior. Both students proudly shared that they have been living in abstinence for more than a year, a testimony of resilience and hope for their peers.

The highlight of the program was a thought-provoking skit play, beautifully presented by the students, which showcased the harmful effects of substance misuse and delivered a touching message that left a deep impact on the audience.

This workshop was a clear reflection of the talent, intelligence, and courage of the students of Tadong Senior Secondary School. Their energy and sincerity in spreading the message of a drug-free future truly set an inspiring example.

Special thanks and appreciation go to the organizing committee, led by Mr. Yogesh Chettri and his team, for their dedicated efforts in making this program a resounding success and in furthering the mission to “Be the Change: Break the Chain of Addiction.”
