The theme of International Day of Radiology 2022 is "Radiologists and Radiographers supporting patients." International radiological societies all over the world celebrate this day. This year's theme encourage all radiologists, radiographers, radiological technologists and professionals in other related fields to join together on this day to recognise and promote the essential role that radiology plays in the patient journey. The International Day of Radiology (IDoR) is an annual event promoting the role of medical imaging in modern healthcare. It is celebrated on November 8 each year and coincides with the anniversary of the discovery of x-rays by the founding father of Radiology: Sir Wilhelm Conrad Rรถntgen (Roentgen) in 1895.
Radiology plays a huge role in disease management by giving physicians more options, tools, and techniques for detection and treatment. Radiology mostly deals with different operations like Ultrasound, MRI, CT scan, and X-ray that require a medical diagnosis. It helps in the management of different types of diseases. It also has varieties of techniques and tools for the purpose of curing, analyzing, and detection.
The modern practice of radiology involves several different healthcare professions working as a team. The radiologist is a medical doctor who has completed the appropriate post-graduate training and interprets medical images, communicates these findings to other physicians by means of a report or verbally, and uses imaging to perform minimally invasive medical procedures. The 'medical imaging technologist' or "radiologic technologist" are specially trained healthcare professional that uses sophisticated technology and positioning techniques to produce medical images for the radiologist to interpret. The International Day of Radiology aims to promote the role of medical imaging in modern healthcare, awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care, and improve understanding of how radiologists and radiological technologists contribute to healthcare. A different theme focusing on a subspecialty is selected each year. The day also honors the vital role that radiographers and radiologists play in the medical field. It recognizes their dedication, hard work, and numerous contributions to modern healthcare.
We can expect to see significant changes in the next 20 years in radiology. These advancements will come at a much faster pace than they did in the last 20 years due to the rapid evolution of technology, driven in large part by artificial intelligence, which has the potential to reshape the entire healthcare industry.
Best wishes to all Radiology Professionals for your future endeavours๐๐ with the quote "Radiology is an eye of Medicine" congratulations to all aspiring radiology students, interns, scholars, academicians, application specialist, RSOs for this day..
