Honored to be a panelist at FOGSI YUVA held at the ITC Hotel Convention Center, Bodhgaya.

It was a privilege to speak on “Raising Digitally Healthy Adolescents – Where Do We Draw the Line?” and share perspectives on the psychological impact of social media on young minds. In today’s digital era, our role is not to create fear around technology, but to promote awareness, balance, and emotional resilience in adolescents.

My heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tejaswi Nandan and Dr. Ruby Bose for the kind invitation and for curating such a meaningful academic platform where mental health is recognized as an integral part of adolescent well-being.

Grateful for the enriching discussions and collaborative spirit.

How Early Emotional Wounds Can Quietly Echo Into Adulthood 🤍

Many adults carry struggles they don’t fully understand.
They wonder why certain feelings repeat, why relationships feel hard, or why self-doubt feels so loud.

If this image resonates, please hear this gently:
These patterns are not character flaws.
They are understandable responses to earlier emotional pain.

Childhood trauma can sometimes show up later as:
↳ Constant self-doubt or feeling “not good enough”
↳ Fear of abandonment or difficulty trusting others
↳ Chronic guilt, shame, or inner pressure
↳ Anger that feels confusing or overwhelming
↳ Coping habits that helped once, but now feel draining
↳ Perfectionism that never allows rest means something is “wrong” with you

None of this means you are broken.
It means your younger self adapted in the best way they could.

Healing does not require reliving the past or blaming anyone.
It begins with safety, compassion, and learning new ways to care for your nervous system slowly, respectfully, and at your own pace.

You have learned to survive. And healing is possible. 🌱

Phone-triggered migraines are very real, especially with long screen time.

Here’s what’s usually going on and what actually helps (not the fluffy advice):

Why the phone can trigger a migraine
• Screen glare & brightness → overstimulates the visual cortex
• Blue light → disrupts sensory processing
• Neck posture (text-neck) → cervicogenic trigger
• Rapid scrolling / flashing reels → sensory overload
• Mental fatigue + emotional load (this one’s underrated)

What you can do right now
• 📵 Put the phone down early in the prodrome (even 10–15 min matters)
• 🌗 Lower brightness + turn on Night Shift / blue-light filter
• 🕶️ Dark, quiet room — not total silence if that worsens it
• ❄️ Cold pack on forehead/neck
• 💧 Hydrate (small sips)
• 😌 Eyes closed, slow breathing — 4-6 breathing works well

Prevention tweaks that actually help
• ⏱️ 20–20–20 rule (every 20 min, look 20 feet away for 20 sec)
• 📱 Dark mode always on
• 📐 Raise phone to eye level (protects neck trigger points)
• 🔕 Reduce reels/shorts — rapid visual changes are migraine poison
• 😴 Sleep consistency (even a 1–2 hr shift can lower threshold)

Red flags (don’t ignore these)

If migraines are:
• Increasing in frequency
• Accompanied by new neurological symptoms
• Triggered by minimal screen exposure
