The Indian Alliance of Patients' Groups (IAPG) was launched in November 2014 in New Delhi to bring together cross disease organizations on a common platform to work on common thematic areas such as access, quality and safety of healthcare. Such a platform will enable disease-specific organizations to maintain their independence while at the same time give a strong voice to support both government and private sector efforts to build a stronger, more accessible health care system that mutually benefits patients and healthcare providers throughout India. IAPG's proposed mission is to “facilitate and ensure a safe, effective, reliable patient-centred health system in India that provides timely access to the best available prevention options, treatments and diagnostics.”
