Can a Heart Attack Occur Even With a Normal ECG?
Many people believe that a normal ECG rules out a heart attack—but that’s not always true. A patient with classic chest pain, sweating, and discomfort may still have a serious heart problem even if the ECG and echo look normal. In such cases, blood tests like troponin play a crucial role. An elevated troponin can reveal hidden heart damage, as seen in cases of acute coronary syndrome, where significant blockages (like in the LAD artery) may only be detected through angiography. ECG is an important test to include a heart attack, but it cannot always exclude it. Proper diagnosis requires evaluating symptoms, medical history, and additional tests to ensure timely and life-saving treatment..
