Having a child with hyperactivity can definitely prove to be a challenge, both for parents as well as schools. While it’s okay to use any form of, reels, social media or AI to take guidance and suggestions for one self, following it blindly, overlooking the work of practitioners can be very contaproductive.

A 4 year old, who is hyperactive, is being shadowed by a parent. The school puts the onus on the parent. While the parent wants perfection in a hyper 4 year old, the result is a good thrashing to the child because the impishisness and impulsivity does not stop.
The thrashing to the child happens at home . It is for non compliance at school.

Result: the child is ok for half a day and again resorts to the impulsive behaviour, with the mother again taking him home.

Question to the mother: Did you achieve the desired result with the thrashing?

Mother: yes.
Me: how so ?
Mother: it went in his muscle memory and fear will teach him to behave.

Being a certified trauma therapist, I can see that the the unfortunate seeds of self loathing, self deprecation, angst , anger and anxiety have been sowed.

Fast forward to an 11th or 10th grader, therapy would be actively sought for the same child, as the self hate is kind of taken a root.

Parents need to accept children with their challenges. The acceptance is the 1st key to your own mental health.

Spare the rod and spoil the child is an old age saying. What do you think ? Let’s share

My heart went out to my friend. She said she wasn’t feeling well and wanted to leave. I had barely reached the venue, sensing that she was quite upset, I left with her and the moment I sat in the car, the flood gates opened.
How easy it is to judge, how easy it is to comment.
Let’s for once be kind to each other and take things at face value.
Everyone has their journey to walk and go through.
Kindness goes a long way.

Covid played havock in everyones life, as we are all aware.
Everyone had a journey to go through. My own journey took a different turn as my SEN departments which were established and running well in reputed schools had to be shut down due to non payment by the schools. We however dos not leave our kids.
It also gave me an opportunity to learn the nuances of technology.
So life again started. Children who are differently abled had their own journey.
And now I am so so happy and humbled to share that a chapter written by me as a first author has been published in a book edited by Prof Madhumita.
This Book is published through NIEPA( MHRD).

It’s an honour as this book is the first in which my chapter has been published. This hopefully is the beginning of many others that should follow.

Control the 7 M’s and see the difference in your life. The attitude is quite all that matters. It’s difficult to change an old way of thinking but it’s never too late. Many times we don’t see simple things around us. Look around and see the world with a different lense
