At 72, Vinod Prakash Messy remains deeply committed to learning and teaching. A retired government employee, he continues to spend his time guiding students and reading regularly, activities that demand clear near vision.

When he began experiencing increasing difficulty while reading, he decided to undergo an eye screening. The examination revealed cataract, a condition that had gradually been affecting his vision.

On 15 October, he underwent cataract surgery for his left eye. The procedure was successful, and the improvement in his vision allowed him to comfortably return to reading and teaching.
Encouraged by the outcome of the first surgery, Mr. Messy began planning treatment for his right eye as well. Four months later, he returned for consultation and further tests. After confirming that his overall health was stable and that he had no complications such as blood pressure or diabetes, doctors advised him that he could proceed with the second cataract surgery when ready. He now intends to undergo the procedure in March.

During his interactions with the hospital team, Mr. Messy also became aware of the institution’s outreach efforts and the free eye surgeries offered to individuals who cannot afford treatment. Learning about these initiatives strengthened his appreciation for the hospital’s commitment to community service.

Mrs. Satish Lal had earlier undergone cataract surgery, which successfully restored her vision and gave her confidence in the care she received. Two years ago, after the emotional loss of her daughter, she suddenly lost vision in her right eye and was diagnosed with vision loss caused by a stroke affecting the eye. Although the lost vision could not be reversed, doctors advised regular treatment to prevent further damage. Since then, she has been visiting the hospital every three months for a specialised retinal injection to control swelling and fluid accumulation. Living alone while her son works in Singapore, these visits have also become a source of comfort for her. She especially appreciates the patience, attentiveness, and reassurance provided by the medical team, and Dr. Reena continues to personally check on her during each visit. Because of this positive experience, Mrs. Lal often recommends the hospital to her friends and acquaintances.
