Happy international women's day 🌻

We co-create centres with women that have grown into empowered community hubs and safe spaces where women find dignity, learn new skills, share experiences, and support one another.

Together, our 11 centres, including Garima Grih and 10 Pink Centers, have reached over 1 million women across 35 urban slum communities, helping build stronger neighbourhoods.

This is the spirit of International Women’s Day to Gain.

This Women’s Day, let’s continue to support, uplift, and stand beside the women building stronger communities with PVR NEST.

Shivani’s Story: From Learning to Leading

Shivani is 18 years old and currently pursuing her B.A. First Year. Along with her college studies, at our Garima Grih center, she attends computer classes and spends time learning and teaching stitching, something she truly enjoys.

What started as a simple skill has slowly become a source of confidence and support for her. From home, Shivani now takes stitching work and earns ₹6,000–₹7,000 every month.

She loves spending time learning new designs from the trainers and improving her skills. Whenever the trainer is away, Shivani happily steps in to help manage the class.

Through spaces like Garima Grih, PVR NEST continues to support young women like Shivani as they take steps toward a more independent future.

Reimagining public spaces as places of dignity, safety, and care.

Since 2006, PVR NEST, the CSR arm of PVR INOX Limited, has been a dedicated partner to the city of Delhi, working within some of its most difficult and distressed urban slum communities, especially for migrant women and families.

Running the city’s largest safety & protection program with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, we have transformed neglected government infrastructure into vibrant community hubs for over one million women, children, and marginalised citizens across 35 urban slum communities.

Through 11 centres, including Pink Centres and Garima Grih, we integrate sanitation, health, nutrition, education, safety, and livelihoods under one roof.

Because public infrastructure should do more than serve a function: It should empower lives.

Some days feel special because of simple progress!

Today, we are happy to share Simran’s story.

Thirteen-year-old Simran from the Jawahar Camp community comes to our Garima Grih centre everyday after school to learn computers. One of our brightest IT skilling program students, she has learned to draw in MS Paint, type in Notepad, and is now confidently working on MS Word.

Her eagerness to learn is helping her grow every day. We believe this curiosity and dedication will take her a long way.

We were honoured to host Pragya Prasun, founder of Atijeevan Foundation, at Garima Grih on February 14, where she spent time with our skilling cohort and community women and girls.

Pragya spoke gently yet powerfully about acid attack and burn prevention, sharing simple first-aid steps and safety awareness that can make a real difference in emergencies. The session gave our women and girls practical knowledge, but also a strong sense of confidence and preparedness.

More importantly, Pragya spoke about hope, education, and financial independence. She reminded our community women that life does not stop after a setback. With learning, skills, and self-belief, every woman has the strength to rebuild her life with dignity. Her words left everyone feeling inspired, reassured, and stronger.

Freedom, Confidence, Possibility

This January, young women from communities around Garima Grih and our Pink Centers took their first ride toward independence through our bike-riding mobility program, in collaboration with Motolyfe and Her Sawari building confidence, skills, and freedom with every turn.

Beyond mobility, our initiatives continued to nurture communities through nutrition, health awareness, creative workshops, and youth engagement, bringing dignity and opportunity to those who need it most.

Meet Kajal.

Kajal is 20 years old and lives in the Jawahar Camp community, near PVR NEST's Garima Grih center in Kirti Nagar, New Delhi. She studied till Class 8 and communicates with the world in her own quiet, powerful way, she cannot speak and has limited hearing. But that has never stopped her from learning, growing, or dreaming.

Through PVR NEST’s KALA program, Kajal enrolled in tailoring & stitching classes and discovered a new sense of confidence. Today, she can stitch petticoats, blouses, suits, pants, and frocks, skills she once thought were out of reach.

One of her proudest moments was stitching four blouses for her mother. “I felt very happy,” she shares.

And Kajal isn’t stopping there. She wants to re-enrol and learn even more. Alongside stitching, she is also learning basic computer skills and has already mastered making notepads.

Kajal’s journey is a reminder that when opportunity meets determination, possibility has no limits.

Meet Hardeep Kaur.

Hardeep is 21 years old, originally from Punjab and now living in Delhi with her family. Due to financial challenges, her studies were delayed, but she never gave up on learning. She completed her senior secondary education through NIOS and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts from Delhi University.

To build practical skills, Hardeep joined the IT course at the Garima Grih Centre, Kirti Nagar, New Delhi. For her, this step made a real difference.

“The classes are easy to understand, the teachers are very supportive, and the fees are affordable. I’m learning so much, and it has boosted my confidence.”

For Hardeep, Garima Grih became more than a learning centre—it became a place where she found confidence, direction, and hope for a better future.
