What is Knee Replacement Surgery?
Knee replacement (also called knee arthroplasty) is a surgical procedure to replace a damaged or worn-out knee joint with an artificial implant (prosthesis). It is commonly done in patients with severe arthritis or after a serious knee injury, when pain and movement problems are affecting daily life.
✅ Types of Knee Replacement
Total Knee Replacement (TKR)
Entire knee joint is replaced (both sides of the knee).
Most common type.
Partial Knee Replacement (PKR)
Only one part of the knee is replaced (medial, lateral, or patellofemoral).
Suitable if damage is limited to one side.
Revision Knee Replacement
Done when a previous knee replacement fails or wears out.
