A Wake-Up Call for Every Mother 💔
The news from Ghaziabad this week has left us all shaken. Three young sisters - Nishika, Prachi, and Pakhi - lost their lives in a tragedy linked to the silent, invisible grip of digital addiction and task-based online "challenges."

As mothers, our first instinct is to protect. But how do you protect your child from a world that lives inside their pocket?

The digital landscape has shifted drastically. What started as "socializing" in 2005 has evolved into an AI-driven ecosystem in 2026 designed to:
✅ Validate their deepest insecurities through "echo chambers."
✅ Replace real-world connection with dopamine-driven virtual rewards.
✅ Tank their academic performance by shrinking their attention spans.

The Ghaziabad incident isn't just a headline; it’s a warning. We cannot "hear their silence" if we are all looking at our screens.

I’ve written a guide to help you recognize the addiction symptoms before it’s too late and understand exactly how these platforms are rewiring your child's thoughts and their future.
Read the full blog here: https://drpurvitapsych.in/2026/02/07/the-silent-hijack-is-social-media-stealing-your-childs-potential/

Let’s choose connection over consumption. Our children don’t need more followers; they need us. 👩‍👧‍đŸ‘Ļ✨

From 2005 to 2026, the digital world has changed - and so has your child’s brain. Understand the "Echo Chamber" effect of social media and why your teen is losing their ability to academic excel.

đŸĒ” Diwali — Lighting the Lamps Within

Every Diwali, we light lamps to drive away darkness. But some darkness isn’t around us — it’s inside us.

The quiet exhaustion, the unseen worries, the loneliness that smiles often hide.

This Diwali, pause.

Light a diya not just for your home, but for your heart. Let its flame remind you — healing takes time, but it begins with gentleness.

Reach out to someone who may be struggling in silence. Listen without judgment. Hug without hurry.

And if you are the one struggling — know this: your light is still there, even if it flickers.

You don’t have to shine the brightest — you just have to keep shining.

✨ May this Diwali bring light to your mind, warmth to your spirit, and hope to your tomorrow.

Motherhood by choice: Love beyond biology

Motherhood is one of the deepest and powerful roles in human life. Some become mothers through birth, others through adoption, fostering or even by stepping into the role as grandmothers, sisters or caregivers. What unites them is not biology, but love and care for the child.

Adoption has psychological impact on both the parents and the child.
🟠 For adoptive parents, it often begins with grief (loss of the dream of biological children or struggles with infertility). Choosing to raise a child who may not share your DNA but becomes your whole world is a testament to unconditional parenting.
The parents often struggle with bonding fears, societal judgment, and helping their children process early trauma. They may also carry internal doubts about being "real parents", yet their commitment, resilience, and love often shine through as powerful parenting qualities.
🟠 For the adopted child, adoption is both a gift and a challenge. It offers the chance for safety, family, and love, but may also carry emotional wounds — grief over birth parents, identity questions, and trust issues. With patience and consistent parenting, many of these struggles can be transformed into strength.

🟠 Why to go for adoption?
Adopted children, when supported with openness, cultural sensitivity, and love, grow up to become well adjusted, capable adults, often inspired to give back to others.
Parents experience deep emotional fulfillment and personal growth. An adopting mother chooses to open her heart, home, and future to a child in need. She is a healer of emotional wounds, a builder of trust, and a safe home. Her strength lies not in biology but in the quiet, consistent care she offers in shaping a child’s life forever.
After all, it takes a society to raise a child and not just genetics.

Our Paw/Claw Friends and Mental Health

Are you a pet-parent or a pet-lover? Do you know how much our pets affect our mental health?

🐕‍đŸĻē Let's find out!!!

Since ages, pets have been an integral part of human lives offering companionship, security and emotional support. Research from American psychiatric society suggests that 84% of pet parents have positive impact on their mental health because of their pets. One of the most well documented benefits of pet-ownership is emotional support.

🐈 Interacting with pets can:
🔸 Provide a calming response.
🔸 Reduce stress and anxiety.
🔸 Encourage us to be active physically.
🔸 Add structure to our schedule.
🔸 Increase social connections with others and decrease social isolation.

🐰However, the paw parents are mostly concerned about:
🔹Gradual aging of the pets.
🔹The pet's health conditions.
🔹Caring for their pets while travelling.

đŸĻœ Interesting fact:
A 2021 survey revealed that 72% of Millenials see their pets as their children and 81% admitted loving their pets more than some of the family members. Thus, Gen Z is following the trend and pets have become an integral lifestyle choice as evident from the cafes to vacation spots that cater to animals now-a-days are increasing.

đŸŦ Pets in therapies:
Animal assisted therapy is an evidence based intervention that seeks help from our pets to support people with mental illness. It involves trained animals like dogs, dolphins, horses, cats, rabbits to help people to reduce or overcome symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD and other mental disorders.

🐎 Therefore, parenting the fur/ not so fur babies has positive impact on promoting mental health. However, paw-parenting is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment but it acts as a
complementary strategy to improve emotional resilience and happiness.

What is Gender Dysphoria?

Gender dysphoria refers to the psychological distress or discomfort a person feels when their gender identity does not align with the s*x they were assigned at birth. This condition can cause significant distress and affect a person's emotional well-being, leading to feelings of confusion, anxiety, and depression.

Signs that may indicate you need to visit a psychiatrist for help:

1. Persistent feelings of discomfort with your gender identity or role.

2. Intense distress or anxiety related to the mismatch between your gender identity and assigned s*x.

3. Difficulty functioning in everyday life due to feelings of gender incongruence.

4. Experiencing depression or anxiety linked to your gender identity.

5. Social withdrawal or avoiding situations due to fear of being misgendered or misunderstood.

6. Physical discomfort with your body, such as a desire to alter your physical appearance to match your gender identity.

If you or someone you know is struggling with gender dysphoria, visiting a psychiatrist can provide valuable support and guidance. They can offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore feelings and help develop strategies for coping.
