Team CANQC had posted a video on Aug 12th 2018 cautioning people about this self-proclaimed expert who was misguiding people with diabetes to eat as much fruit as they want as fructose does not increase blood glucose level.

A qualified dietitian and core team member of CANQC came across a 13-year-old child diagnosed with type2 diabetes who received an audio recording for a fat sum from this self-proclaimed expert. He was asked to skip breakfast and eat 600 g of any fruit/mixed fruits followed by lunch and dinner. The child started following his advice and in a matter of days gained 4-5 kg weight and blood glucose readings went upto 480 mg/dl.

He was hospitalized where he was counseled by his doctor and referred to a qualified dietitian. His blood glucose levels with a well-designed meal plan and exercise regime are well within range, he has lost weight and is feeling energetic and happy.

Parents in spite of being educated fell in the trap of the self-proclaimed expert and are doing their best to spread awareness and dissuade people from falling prey to this quack and his false claims.

Please share this with all your contacts to spread awareness and save more people from getting misguided. Always verify the facts with your health care expert- a qualified doctor and dietitian before following any advise blindly.

A qualified dietician/nutritionist will take a detailed history, understand your lifestyle, eating habits, physical activity, stress levels, medical conditions if any, sleep pattern, cultural habits, work schedule, likes and dislikes, take into consideration your body composition ,medication and then plan a customised diet to suit your p. She/he will make sure it is a balanced diet providing all the essential macro and micronutrients. It is not a “one size fit all , starvation, monotonous , crash diet” which the nutrition quacks will advise.

Make your choices wisely. Embark on a fitness journey which helps you gain health and adds life to your years. Make small, gradual changes which you can continue in the long run.
