Know Your Kidney Tests 🩺

Serum creatinine is the most common test to assess kidney function. A rise in creatinine often signals a kidney problem. While mild increase with age can be normal, any sudden or gradual rise needs attention.

Understanding kidney disease is essential for early diagnosis and proper treatment. 👨‍⚕️🩺
Dr. Syed Gufran explains that kidney problems are broadly classified into three types:

🔹 Acute Kidney Injury (AKI):
A sudden insult to the kidneys identified through rising serum creatinine or reduced urine output. Usually reversible within 3 months.

🔹 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD):
Kidney damage that persists for more than 3 months. Often irreversible and requires long-term management.

🔹 Rapidly Progressive Renal Disorder:
A fast-worsening condition that can lead to dialysis within days to weeks. A true kidney emergency requiring urgent biopsy and treatment.

🩺 Early detection can save kidneys. Consult a nephrologist if you notice symptoms or abnormal test results.
