PLANTAR FASCITIS

* one of the most common causes of heel pain is plantar fasciitis where the fascia under the heel gets irritated and inflamed causing it to pain. It’s most common in people who require to stand for long hours and also due to improper footwear.
* A 35 year old female came to us with heel pain since 2 years. Her chief complaint was painful first step in the early morning as soon as she woke up and it would get better with few walking steps.
*She is a desktop professional so doesn’t require to stand at all but on history we could find out that she was wearing improper footwear with hard sole all this while.
In the before pic you can notice how her right heel is inwardly rotated causing undue pressure on the media arch of the foot thus increasing it. This causes the Achilles tendon to become tight which is a continuation of calf muscles.
TREATMENT :
The after pic is 10th session at the clinic and notice how the excessive arch has reduced causing the heel to gain its normal position.
*Ultrasound therapy to reduce the inflammation in the fascia
*TENS to reduce the pain
*Soft tissue releases to the calf muscle and heel to relieve pain and muscle knots due to the excessive pull.
*Exercises to stretch and strengthen the Intrinsic muscles of the foot in order to maintain the correction and prevent the recurrence of the problem.

One of the most common causes of knee pains in elderly is OSTEOARTHRITIS which is again a lifestyle or mechanical change in the body. Awareness of the proper mechanics of the body and strengthening Of the soft tissue around can help in prevention of arthritis.

A 65 year old female patient came to us with knee pain since a year and was unable to even keep the legs straight. As you can see in the picture the right side of the leg is more curved towards outside making a bow and an inwardly curve of the the feet below , because it’s the whole chain of lower limb that’s affected and not just one part of the body.

In technical terms : Genuvarum(bowing) at the knee mostly results in supination of the foot. We were able to achieve this correction in just 6 sessions manually which includes Mobilisation of the joints and the soft tissues,Manipulation (bearable) and strengthening exercises.

Note : Arthritis is a vague term given to the knee pains but if diagnosed properly in early stage ,one can stop the progression of the condition and also can reverse the changes possibly with proper physiotherapy ,mechanics and lifestyle modifications.

*Ongoing nagging upper back and neck pain since 8 years case solved.

Started with mild headache then neck pain and slowly progressing to thoracic spine and chest heaviness, prominently left side of the body.
Patient consulted orthopaedicians and physiotherapists in India and US as well. Doctors even ruled out throat and Brest cancer.
Used medications and Got Physio sessions done where she was advised General strengthening exercises and met chiropractors too but no relief at all.

From my physical examination on day one I diagnosed it as a postural problem which just worsened with time.
In (before) picture we can clearly see the right (shoulder) /scapula is elevated and protracted which has lead to muscle imbalances in the lower spine as well resulting in left hip hike (evident in pic two).
As I always do my focus was on correcting the posture as first thing along with some Myofascial work , Kinesio taping to correct the imbalances and teaching correct spinal mechanics.

Within 10 sessions she was pain free and got her posture fixed.
So most of the issues are solvable and require right guidance and education.
