My client was having a hard time turning his neck to the left. It hurt the upper part of the right side of his neck near his ear. The neck muscle that attaches there is the SCM (sternocleidomastoid), and the right SCM turns the head to the left. I tried to pair the right SCM with the neck extensors, but no luck. Then I found a similar sore area on the left SCM.
testing found the right SCM overworking and the left underworking. Released the right and activated the left. He could now turn his head to the left β€”β€”RE+ACTIVE PHYSIOCARE

A client was having knee pain when extending his leg, he heard a clunk and felt his kneecap moving. That sounded like a classic case of patellar tracking. Testing found the vastus lateralis overworking and the vastus medialis and medial fibers of the re**us femoris underworking. Released the vastus lateralis and activated the and vastus medialis and medial rec fem. The kneecap, which before was not moving well from side to side, now moved much better. And he was able to extend his leg normally. β€”β€” RE+ACTIVE PHYSIO CARE

My client, who sits too much, has glute and groin pain. He said his hips felt stiff. I put his hips through some tests and found a positive FABER test bilaterally, worse on the right, the side he had the most discomfort. Testing found the right obturators, the muscles that suspend the femur in the acetabulum, overworking and the psoas underworking. Released the obturators and activated the psoas. Glutes felt better but groin still tight.
Then we found the adductor magnus overworking and the psoas underworking. Released the add mag and activated the psoas. The FABER was much improved and his hip felt much looser. Then we did the same 2 procedures on the left, same results. β€”β€” RE+ACTIVE PHYSIOCARE

- CAUSES, SYMPTOMS, TREATMENT

πŸ”Ž What is sacroiliitis?

Sacroiliitis is the inflammation of one or both of your sacroiliac joints. These two joints are located where the sacrum (the triangular last section of the spine) meets the ilium (a part of the pelvis).

Sacroiliitis is a common source of lower back pain or pain in the buttocks or thighs. It is often difficult to diagnose since many other conditions cause pain in the same locations.

πŸ”Ž What causes sacroiliitis?

Inflammation of the sacroiliac joint causes most of the symptoms of sacroiliitis. Many medical conditions cause inflammation in the sacroiliac joint, including:

πŸ”˜ Osteoarthritis -This type of wear-and-tear arthritis can occur in the sacroiliac joints and results from the breakdown of ligaments.

πŸ”˜ Ankylosing spondylitis - This is a type of inflammatory arthritis of the joints of the spine. Sacroiliitis is often an early symptom of ankylosing spondylitis.

πŸ”˜ Psoriatic arthritis - This inflammatory condition causes joint pain and swelling as well as psoriasis (scaly patches on the skin). Psoriatic arthritis can cause inflammation of the spinal joints, including the sacroiliac joints.
Other causes of sacroiliitis include:

πŸ”˜ Trauma - A fall, motor vehicle accident, or other injury to the sacroiliac joints or the ligaments supporting or surrounding the sacroiliac joint can cause symptoms.

πŸ”˜ Pregnancy - Hormones generated during pregnancy can relax the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis, causing the sacroiliac joint to rotate. The weight of pregnancy can also stress the sacroiliac joint and lead to wearing of the joint.

πŸ”˜ Pyogenic sacroiliitis - This is a rare infection of the sacroiliac joint caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus.

πŸ”Ž What are the symptoms of sacroiliitis?

Common symptoms of sacroiliitis include pain that:
πŸ”˜ Occurs in the lower back, buttock, hip, or thigh
πŸ”˜ Gets worse after long periods of sitting or standing, or getting out of a chair
πŸ”˜ Worsens after rotating your hips
πŸ”˜ Feels sharp or stabbing, or dull and achy

πŸ”Ž How is sacroiliitis treated?

Most people with sacroiliitis benefit from physical therapy. This treatment helps strengthen and stabilise the muscles surrounding your sacroiliac joints. Physical therapy also makes it easier for you to move your sacroiliac joints through full range of motion.

My client has been working from home, not the best ergonomics, and now has upper back pain. I asked him to show me his position at work, and he was leaning forward. His shoulders were rounded causing his upper back to become extra kyphotic. Our Testing found his upper back muscles, those that attach to the spine, overworking and his pecs underworking. Yes, his pecs were tight, but neurologically underactive. Released the upper back area and activated the pecs. His back softened.

New client, early 20's, sits for work and has lower back pain. Testing looked at all the usual suspects like the abs, psoas, glutes, etc and found nothing. Then I tested his lower back muscles. They were very weak and tight, the source of his back pain. After some exploration I determined that his posterior diaphragm, accessible between the 11th and 12th ribs, was neurologically overactive and the lumbar extensors were underactive. I found that out by having him hold his breath while we tested the extensors.
Released the posterior diaphragm and activated the lumbar extensors. Back pain much better. Homework was standing diaphragm release and standing bird dogs.

Since so many people are working from home these days I'm seeing a lot of muscle pains from sitting for too long and the resultant poor posture. Yesterday I worked on 2 people who fit that description but manifested different symptoms.
The first had left sided neck and shoulder pain with right sided oblique pain. NKT testing found the left levator scapula overworking and the right levator underworking. Released the left sniff activated there right. That helped the neck pain. Her right obliques were overworking and her left underworking. Released the right and activated the left.
The second person had right lower back pain and a headache. NKT testing found his right QL and gluteus medius overworking and his left QL and glute med underworking. Released the right and activated the left. His head was leaning to the left to balance out the torso learning to the right. Testing found the left upper trap overlooking and the left QL underworking. Released the trap and activated the QL. Headache much better.
Obviously both people need to fix their ergonomics.β€”β€”RE+ACTIVE PHYSIO CARE
