Today, I had the opportunity to share the inspiring journey of a young child born with Profound hearing loss with IP2 deformity, a condition that makes cochlear implantation more challenging. But with the right technology and precise surgical planning, extraordinary outcomes are possible.
we used the Advanced Bionics SlimJ electrode, supported by current steering technology, where virtual channels can stimulate up to 120 channels.
This combination allows exceptionally refined frequency resolution—especially valuable in anatomies like IP2, where precision truly matters.

“Voices of Joy” was more than a Children’s Day celebration - it was an ode to over 200 children who have rediscovered the world of sound through cochlear implantation. Seeing them walk the ramp with messages like “I Can Hear You Now!” and perform with such confidence filled us with joy and reinforced why early hearing intervention matters so much.

We were honoured to have Padma Shri Dr. Manjula Anagani ma’am as our Chief Guest. Her warm presence and words of encouragement added immense meaning to the day, and I am grateful for her unwavering guidance towards our efforts.

The event brought together families, team, and well-wishers who have been part of each child’s journey. Through stories, performances, and a short documentary film, we reflected not just on restored hearing - but on restored hope, futures, and possibilities.

At Dr. Rao’s ENT, our mission goes beyond surgical care. We are committed to spreading awareness about childhood deafness, strengthening early diagnosis, and ensuring timely access to cochlear implantation - including free surgeries for children under five.

Some journeys take you forward.
Others take you home.❤️

After 14 years, I returned to the same town where I did my post-graduation — this time, not as a student but as a speaker on hearing loss.
My juniors are now accomplished specialists in their own fields, my professors still radiate the same warmth and affection.
Everything changed —
the place, the roles…
But not the love. Not the bond. 💫
It felt like going back to my hometown and meeting my own family. 💕
Thankful for these bonds that time can never change.

This festive season, amidst all the lights, colors, and joy — let’s not forget one thing we often ignore: our hearing health. 🪔👂

Firecrackers can reach sound levels of 140 dB or more, which is way above the safe hearing limit. Continuous or sudden exposure to such loud sounds can cause temporary or even permanent hearing damage, especially in children and the elderly.

As an ENT specialist, I always say — prevention is better than treatment.
