Friends, Wishing every one to be in a salubrious state.
Yup, India’s Covid-19 Epidemiology has metamorphosed.
We are in the eye of the storm.
Please get tested at your chosen lab.
What is the appropriate test?
RTPCR is the Nose swab test, which is much into political controversy but scientifically credible to know the diagnosis. It requires a bit of a red tape to have it done.
The other is a blood test, also called antibody test, easily available, sometimes at your door step. Now this test is interpreted in many ways. But suffice to say that if it is positive, you already had Covid 19. May need to isolate yourself for two weeks from others.
A negative test may not be inferred as much as we wanted to.
Anyways,
Regarding RT PCR test, If you are positive and have no symptoms, please self quarantine your self.
Just in case you are unlucky to have symptoms please ....
Follow these.
And of course its also for those who may want to ward off the disease.
Physical activity and fitness
1. Simple exercises, Stretching and the old-fashioned school PT drill. (Not required to do awkward yoga)
2. Breathing exercises. Keep a 10 min. session, at least four times daily.
Take in Deep breaths and hold for 4 to 5 seconds, before expiration
It is seen that lying down in prone position (ie. on your tummy, (head down, as in a spa/massage bed), is very beneficial.
Remember, It’s a mind over body game.
Diet:
Natural foods.
1. An Orange or its juice, or lemon juice in warm water twice daily.
2. Any other fruit.
3. A bowl of 20 mixed dry fruits, (almonds, peanuts, raisins). You must continue the normal diet, like always, just don't over stuff yourslef, eat optimum
4. Proteins in the form of egg a day or protein powders and plenty of pulses/ dal.
- Some people can experience diarrhea, please add Ensure powder or other processed powders into water and drink
- A warm water concoction with Haldi (turmeric), honey, ginger, black pepper and any green tea bag every morning is recommended.
- Good hydration, Have warm drinks every half hour, just cups of warm water, a hot chai or green tea or coffee as many times in the day.
Avoid drinking Cold Water !! Just stick to warm water frequently.
Extra efforts:
- Steam inhalation twice or 3 times daily. Add eucalyptus oil or any menthol or camphor that's suitable to you.
- Gargle. minimum 2 times daily. Use salt or Listerine or Betadine solution.
- Brush your teeth twice daily.
- Meditation for at least 30 minutes a day.. It boosts immunity. Not easy but make a 5 to 10 minute attempt three times daily. The mantra is simple, keep reciting … ‘ I am going to fight this’ or any other recitation.
- Music… Listen to Soft classical music, or Motivational stuff of any Guru, but best is to tune into your favorite music.
A Pulse Oxymeter to monitor your oxygen saturation, called SPO2. It helps early detection of ensuing complication and is a very good objective method for hospitalization. If you can get your hands on it, use it.
Medications:
- Caps. ZINCOVIT once a day till end of the year, (any zinc supplements with B complex)
- Caps. UPRISE D3 60K once a week (any Vit.D supplements) till end of the year.
- Caps. Evion LC once a day till end of the year.
- Cod liver caps / Chavanprash / or any immune boosting supplements.
- Tab. Crocin 500mg or any Paracetamol, only for fever above 100 F, or just wait it out till sweating.
- Tab. Ecosprin 150 mg. After Lunch. Till end of the year ( Not if you are already on other blood thinners.)
Now regarding the drug HCQS 200 mg or ZyQ 200mg. It is not harmful and surely beneficial, it really does help. Scientific ego scattering for proof is not for debate in these situations. Side effects have been over zealously propagated, if your worried have an ECG, and review with a cardiologist !!
For prophylaxis, please take 200 mg once a week, till the pandemic subsides, may be end of the year.
It can be confusing to explain the dosage of this to everyone, but suffice to say it helps.
For the resourceful :
If you can, get a C-PAP machine and an Oxygen source.. (either a cylinder or concentrator)
These are to be used only when SPO2 is below 90 and definitely below 80.
Initially, titrate the O2 flow with a Pulse Oxymeter reading of SPO2. Keep your SP02 to above 90.
- Keep a diary, a note of what you are following hourly, whatever of the top mentioned tips. It can help the doctor if you reach the hospital.
- WEAR YOUR MASK, AND WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM GETTING IT FROM YOU.
Make sure you know the logistics of getting a bed assured and the time it would take to actually get medical attention after you leave home. Just keep following the tummy down position and deep breathing till you are parked in your bed in the hospital.
Take Care everyone. Be safe.
Mask on always, and wash your hands.
