In Sri Ganganagar on January 19, 2026, a 14-year-old schoolgirl faced an acid attack while walking to class, after rejecting advances from 19-year-old photographer Omprakash Jani - met earlier at a wedding. Disguised for the assault, he was caught on CCTV. Police offered a Rs 25,000 reward, arrested him swiftly, and paraded him publicly. Injuries remained minor, yet the incident reveals the alarming persistence of gender-based violence triggered by rejection in India. Does rejection justify such brutality, or does it expose deeper societal issues like toxic masculinity, inadequate safety measures for girls, and the need for stronger deterrence - what's the real fix? On January 12, 2026, a 42-year-old woman from UP stepped off Bahadurgarh's Green Line metro at 2 AM with her uncle after a Delhi job hunt. Five men followed their bus, intimidated the family, and dragged her just 100 meters to a deserted dhaba for brutal gang r**e at 2:30 AM. Initially reporting only theft from trauma, CCTV footage revealed the assault. Police traced Rs 100 cash + Rs 30 UPI liquor payment, arresting 4 Bihar men within 8 hours - one absconding. Even near metro stations, is night safe for women? What do YOU think needs to change?

Digital spaces may be virtual, but their impact on our mental health is very real. đź’”

Online abuse hurts—emotionally and mentally. From anxiety and self-doubt to real trauma symptoms, the effects run deep.

It's vital to remember that it’s okay to speak up. Your feelings are valid. Abuse thrives in silence, but support is available.

Take action as a form of self-care: block, report, document, and most importantly, talk to someone you trust.

You don’t have to go through this alone. Sign up with Nyay'ri for free legal and mental health services.

This of Activism, let’s create digital spaces where women can speak out without fear. Online violence silences, but together we have strong voices. Your voice matters. Your digital rights matter. Learn about cyber laws, find support, and challenge online abuse. We can build safer online spaces together.

Our Goal -

1. Educate women about digital rights & cyber laws.

2. Empower them to seek legal and emotional support.

3. Encourage collective online responsibility — by challenging normalisation of online abuse.

If you or someone you know is facing digital abuse, sign them up for Nyay'ri's free legal and mental health services. We are ending digital violence.

Mental health is a journey, not a destination. It’s okay to feel vulnerable, to ask for help, and to take the time you need to heal. Strength is not about pushing through pain alone but knowing when to pause and care for yourself. Let’s end the stigma and create a culture where mental wellness is prioritized and supported openly. ✊🎗️

Your struggles do not define you - your courage to face them does. Together, we can build hope, kindness, and resilience. Remember: you are worthy of care and compassion every single day. 🌻✨
