One of the biggest concerns among breast cancer survivors is — ‘Can I breastfeed after treatment?’

The answer is YES.
Breastfeeding is often possible from the unaffected breast, even after surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy. While milk secretion may be slightly reduced, feeding from the healthy breast is completely safe and beneficial.

Not only is breastfeeding good for the baby, it also helps reduce the future risk of breast cancer in the mother.

So don’t stop breastfeeding out of fear — with the right guidance, it is absolutely possible

Breast cancer during pregnancy — can treatment and pregnancy go together?

Yes. Even though it’s very rare (1 in 3000 pregnancies), treatment is still possible without stopping the pregnancy in most cases.

Here’s how it is usually managed:
• Surgery can be done soon after diagnosis
• Chemotherapy is given after the first 3 months of pregnancy
• Radiotherapy is postponed until after delivery

The main focus is to treat the cancer while protecting the baby.
The only challenge is late diagnosis, since pregnancy symptoms like breast tenderness or swelling can hide warning signs.

👉 If detected on time, both pregnancy and treatment can continue safely with the support of a multidisciplinary team.

Why is breast cancer increasing in young women?
Lifestyle plays a major role.

Risk increases with:
• Poor diet & obesity
• Lack of physical activity
• Stress, smoking, and alcohol

But studies show that 10–20% of risk can be reduced by:

✔️ Regular exercise
✔️ High-fiber fruits & balanced diet
✔️ Good sleep & low stress levels
✔️ Avoiding alcohol and smoking

For those with family history or BRCA1 / BRCA2 gene mutations, risk is higher — but genetic testing is available to detect it early.

Lifestyle + Awareness = Strongest protection.

Many women ask — “After breast cancer treatment, when is it safe to plan a pregnancy?”

Dr. Anuradha explains it clearly:

• Usually, pregnancy can be planned after 2 years of treatment • If you’re taking Tamoxifen / Letrozole, stop it for 3 months (washout period)

before trying

• Age is important — don’t delay more than needed

Motherhood is possible after cancer — just follow the right timeline.

Cancer treatment may feel like everything is slipping away — health, hope, and even the dream of becoming a parent.

But today, medical science gives us a choice.

Before starting chemotherapy or radiotherapy, women can freeze their eggs and men can freeze their s***m — so that even after cancer, parenthood is still possible.

If someone you know is fighting breast cancer, please share this message.
Fertility preservation isn’t just about science… it’s about giving hope for tomorrow.

Can I plan a pregnancy after breast cancer treatment?” — This is one of the most common fears women have after recovery.

In this video, Dr. Anuradha clarifies that fertility treatments like IVF are absolutely safe after breast cancer, when done with proper protocols.

✅ Low-estrogen IVF protocols
✅ Safer embryo transfer cycles
✅ Limited and fast treatment plans

Whether you’ve undergone surgery alone or chemo/radiation, there are options to plan motherhood confidently — just with the right guidance.

Don’t lose hope. Talk to your fertility specialist and choose what’s safe for you. 💗

Before starting fertility treatments, it’s not just about planning for a baby — it’s also about protecting your health.

Women above 30 or those with a family history of cancer should undergo breast screening before beginning IVF or hormonal treatments.

Fertility medicines can temporarily increase estrogen levels, so early screening through ultrasound or mammogram helps detect any risks beforehand.

A safe pregnancy starts with a healthy mother — screening today can protect both your treatment and your future baby.

Many women worry about whether fertility treatments, pregnancy, or breastfeeding can increase the risk of breast cancer.

The truth may surprise you. Studies show that pregnancy and breastfeeding actually reduce the risk of breast cancer. How?

They lower estrogen exposure in the body, which plays a key role in breast cancer development. On the other hand, factors like early periods, family history, or genetic mutations can increase the risk — not IVF or other fertility treatments. This means women can pursue fertility treatments or pregnancy without fear, while also taking preventive steps for their overall health.

Awareness and informed choices are the keys to protecting both your health and your dreams of parenthood.

Cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation can save lives but they can also damage fertility.

Many young patients don’t realise that their egg or s***m count may drastically drop after treatment and in some cases, may never recover.

With today’s freezing technology, there’s a possible solution:
Individuals can freeze their gametes (eggs or s***m) before starting treatment.

Even if fertility is lost later, the frozen samples can be used for IVF and future parenthood.

A small step taken at the right time can protect a future dream.

19/10/2025

Low s***m count is becoming increasingly common due to today’s lifestyle habits.

What is the good news? Simple lifestyle changes can make a big difference!

✔️ Reduce alcohol
✔️ Quit smoking
✔️ Stay active & exercise regularly

These small steps can help improve s***m count naturally and boost fertility.
