This edition, we explore the complexity of care—treatment options in edge-cases, and picking up skills to perform complex care. Then there is the Michael Crichton quote: ‘If you don’t know history… you are a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree.’

Blindness isn’t one condition. It ranges from low vision to complete loss of sight. It varies in cause and onset, and isn’t the same for everyone.

So here’s a friendly nudge on this International Day of Persons with Disabilities: commit to a world built on access, autonomy, and respect. And maybe challenge your assumptions while you’re at it? 😊 Because you’re not cool until you know how to treat everyone with kindness.

Regards,
Institute of Vision Rehabilitation,

Science took to the streets of Hyderabad for this one-of-a-kind challenge!
As part of the L V Prasad Eye Institute's Conference, On November 2, 2025, the 'Race Against Resistance: AMR Awareness 4K Challenge' was held at our Quaternary Eye Care Insitute at the Kallam Anji Reddy Campus in Banjara Hills.

The race began with purpose in every step. Over a hundred people from all walks of life: school kids, senior citizens, engineers, researchers from various institutes, business professionals, Bug Busters participants (infectious disease specialists, immunologists, and microbiologists), along with LVPEI staff and faculty came together with one goal: to run for a cause that truly matters: raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Along the way, runners paused to take on fun hurdles, learning how everyday misuse fuels AMR. It turned science into something interactive and joyful, filling the streets with energy, laughter, and purpose. The first five finishers who also aced the puzzles won exciting prizes!

Organised in collaboration with 'Superheroes Against Superbugs', the run blended fitness, fun, and science; with participants solving puzzles about antibiotic resistance along the way!

What is Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)?
AMR happens when microbes develop the ability to resist the drugs designed to kill them. This makes common infections harder to treat, and prevention more important than ever!

A big thank-you to everyone who ran, learned, and helped spread the message for a healthier, more antibiotic-aware world. 🌍💙
