Good health does not begin in hospitals — it begins in everyday choices.
Yesterday, at THC Unscripted hosted at NMIMS Hyderabad, I had the privilege of speaking to a hall full of young, bright minds about something that often gets ignored until it is too late — Gut Health.
My session explored realities we must confront:
👉Why inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is rising aggressively in young adults
👉How junk food culture is silently damaging long-term gut immunity
👉The real consequences of modern alcohol habits on liver health
👉Why prevention remains more powerful than cure
Every week in practice, I meet patients who say,
“I wish someone had told me this earlier.”
And that sentence is exactly why platforms like THC Unscripted matter.
Health awareness shouldn’t start after a diagnosis — it should start before disease develops.
What we often overlook
🔹 The gut is not just a digestive system — it is the control center of immunity, hormones, mood, and brain function
🔹 IBD is no longer a Western disease, it is rapidly increasing in India, especially among students and young professionals
🔹 The combination of stress + processed food + sleep deprivation + alcohol is becoming a ticking time bomb
🔹 Liver disease is rising among the young, not because of addiction alone, but because of lifestyle patterns we normalize
The body always whispers before it screams.
The tragedy is — most people wait until the scream.
To the students who listened, asked thoughtful questions, and opened their hearts — thank you.
Your willingness to learn gives hope for a healthier future.
My appreciation to Vivekanand Mishra and The Health Convo team for building a movement that the country urgently needs. and to Prof. Aswini Deshpande Ma’am and NMIMS Hyderabad for hosting such meaningful dialogue.
I feel thankful to my fellow speakers, Dr. Sai Lakshmi Daayana and Dr. Bhavin L Ram — for their inspiring and transformative contributions.
If even one person walked out promising to treat their body with respect, slow down, make better choices, or rethink alcohol consumption — then we moved one step closer to change.
Let’s build a culture where health is not reactive but proactive.
Because the greatest gift we can give ourselves is a body that supports our dreams.
