What is safe motherhood? Does it only involve good care during pregnancy and postpartum?

So safe motherhood starts a minimum of 3 months before becoming pregnant to ensure a healthy pregnancy, a good ante natal care and an expert post partum care especially for the new mother as the child care is generally taken care of by everyone.
