We are proud to be part of the study “Maternal Risk Factor Stratification and Outcomes of Births at a Tertiary Perinatal Referral Centre Network in India,” published in The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India. ✨

Authored by Drs Siri Yerubandi and Pallavi Chandra Ravula, this large study looked at more than 1 lakh births over 11 years to understand how pregnancy risks can change over time. 🌸

📰 What did the study find?

Many women who begin pregnancy as low-risk may develop complications later. Regular monitoring, early identification of risks, and timely referral to specialised care can make a crucial difference to outcomes for both mother and baby. 🤰

🤔Why this matters:
Pregnancy isn’t static and care shouldn’t be either. Ongoing assessment and the right care at the right time help ensure safer births and healthier beginnings.

We are proud to be part of the study, “Biomechanical Assessment of Upright Birthing Positions Using Marker-based and Markerless Motion Capture Systems,” published in PLOS One. 💪

Authored by Lauren Haworth, Inderjeet Kaur, Maimoona Ahmed, and Anastasia Topalidou, this research looks at something many birthing people intuitively know but science hasn’t fully explained until now: the position you choose during labour really matters ✨

Using advanced motion-capture technology, the study compared common upright birthing positions like squatting, hands-and-knees, leaning forward, and sitting on a birthing ball. It found that each position changes how the hips, pelvis, and spine move, which can influence comfort, ease of labour, and how the baby moves down during birth. 🤰

🤔What does this mean in simple terms?

There is no single “best” birthing position for everyone. Different bodies respond differently and having the freedom to move and choose positions can help labour progress more smoothly and feel more comfortable. 🌸

This study strengthens the evidence behind personalised, woman-centred birth care, empowering women with better information to make choices that work for their bodies. ❤️

Our Story

“In June, 1948, a young couple, Leslie and Lourdes Fernandez, started a clinic with two beds.

From these humble beginnings, it grew over the years to 40 beds, at which point they handed over the reins of the hospital to their daughter, Dr. Evita Fernandez. In 1992, the old structures were razed to the ground. On February 12, 1993, the 75th birthday of Dr. Lourdes, she and Dr. Leslie jointly laid the foundation stone of the present building at Bogulkunta, which was inaugurated on August 25, 1996. On January 8, 2011 a second hospital, dedicated to high risk mothers and babies, was opened at Hyderguda. The two hospitals together with the new Stork Home unit at Banjara Hills have a combined strength of 320 beds, offering the latest technology and expertise.”
