A 68 year old female was operated for cataract in June 2024 and had perfect BCVA(6/6, N6) vision in RE.
She started having gradual dimunition of vision in RE. When examined in Feb 2025 she had BCVA 6/12 and N8. On OCT Macula she had ERM which was causing DOV.
Pars Plana Vitrectomy(PPV+ ERM peel) was done in Feb 2025. In April 2025 her BCVA improved to 6/6p, N6 from 6/12, N8.
Epiretinal Membrane (ERM), a thin layer of scar tissue forms on the surface of the retina. This can cause blurred or distorted vision, where straight lines might look wavy or objects may seem out of focus. It’s kind of like looking through wrinkled plastic wrap.
It’s not usually dangerous, and many people don’t even notice it at first. But if it starts affecting vision too much, an eye specialist might recommend surgery to peel away the membrane and improve sight.
👨⚕️ If you (or someone you know) are noticing vision changes, it’s always a good idea to get it checked out. Eye health is important!
