SDMH came into being on November 29, 1971, and was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister, Smt. It was immediately dedicated to the nation as India was then in the throes of a war with Pakistan. It was the first private hospital of the State. It commenced operations
modestly and unassumingly – with 80 beds and 6 specialities. The Santokba Durlabhji Memorial Hospital, Jaipur, popularly known as SDMH, is a private, trust-managed, autonomous, fee-for- service, and not-for-profit hospital. Having served for five decades now, SDMH has gradually evolved into a multidisciplinary, 500-bedded, tertiary care hospital. It houses several wards, operation theatres, ICU's, laboratories, utility services, specialities and super specialities, including one of the best blood banks in the country, catering not only to the entire
State of Rajasthan but also reaching out to neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana. Speciality doctors, skilful nurses and efficient technicians form the backbone of a hospital where facilities and departments co-exist in order to provide succour to all its patients. State-of-the-art operation theatres make cutting-edge surgeries possible in all departments. So far, SDMH has touched the lives of over 5 million patients, the only private institute in Rajasthan to do so.
