Eye Donation Fortnight is an awareness program about promoting eye donation and clear all myths and misconceptions related to it. It is observed every year from 25Aug to 8 Sept. Our Director and Senior Retina Specialist Dr Pratima Mishra was invited for an interactive session on Red Fm 93.5 Jaipur. She discussed about how diabetes can affect the eyes , what is Diabetic Retinopathy and what are treatment options . This would promote awareness and help prevent the loss of precious vision in patients affected with Diabetes and Diabetic retinopathy.
We take this opportunity to thank RED FM 93.5 for helping us to reach to a wider community for helping Diabetic patients

Retina is the posterior part of eye that is invisible yet perform the very important function in vision. The light rays are focused on retina and then transmitted to brain. It is just like film or memory card of a camera. Retinal diseases can effect the vision and are treated by Retina Specialists who are trained & experienced in diagnosis , lasers and surgery of such problems. We salute our Retina colleagues for their wholeheartedly care to patients and wish them Happy World Retina Day.

The importance of ROP screening in premature sick and very low birth weight babies cannot be over emphasised. They must be examined within first 3 weeks of life even if they are sick or in the Incubator in NICU.
This little angel was born at 25 weeks with a extremely low birth weight of 700 gms. If the neonatologist focused only on saving his life and timely ROP screening with laser treatment not done, this precious baby would have been lost in sea of darkness.
The combined efforts of parents, neonatologist and retina specialist all put together can give them a beautiful life and sight.
