Trendy clothing—often categorized as "fast fashion"—can negatively impact our health through restrictive fits, synthetic materials, and toxic chemical treatments. While these items are designed for style and affordability, they can lead to physical discomfort, long-term musculoskeletal issues, and exposure to hazardous substances.

1. Physical Restriction and "Tight Pants Syndrome"
Extremely fitted garments like skinny jeans, shapewear, and tight belts can physically compress your body, leading to several issues:

Digestive Distress: Constant pressure on the abdomen can worsen gastrointestinal disorders like GERD (acid reflux) and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) by pushing stomach acid upward.

Nerve Compression: "Tight Pants Syndrome," or meralgia paresthetica, occurs when tight waistbands or leg openings compress nerves, causing numbness, tingling, or burning pain in the thighs.

Restricted Breathing: High-waisted pants and corsets can limit the diaphragm's ability to expand, leading to shallow breathing, reduced oxygen intake, and fatigue.

Circulatory Problems: Restrictive clothing can impede blood flow, increasing the risk of swelling, varicose veins, or even rare blood clots like deep vein thrombosis.

2. Skin Health and Infections
Many trendy items are made from synthetic fabrics like polyester, nylon, and spandex, which do not breathe as well as natural fibers:

Trapped Moisture: These materials trap sweat and heat, creating a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. This frequently leads to yeast infections, folliculitis (infected hair follicles), and body acne.
Irritation and Rashes: Friction from tight synthetic fabrics can cause chafing, redness, and dermatitis, especially for those with sensitive skin or eczema.

3. Toxic Chemicals and "Forever Chemicals"
The fast fashion industry often uses hazardous chemicals to keep costs low and provide features like wrinkle resistance or vibrant colors:

PFAS (Forever Chemicals): Used for stain and water resistance, these are linked to hormonal disruptions, immune system suppression, and increased cancer risks.

Carcinogenic Dyes: Some azo dyes used in trendy garments can release cancer-causing materials that are absorbed through the skin.

Heavy Metals: Lead and cadmium have been found in some ultra-cheap fashion accessories and footwear, posing risks for neurological impairment and organ damage.

Formaldehyde: Often used to prevent wrinkles in new clothes, it is a known carcinogen that can also trigger respiratory issues and severe skin allergies.

4. Postural and Musculoskeletal Strain
Trendy footwear and accessories can alter how you move:
High Heels: These shift your weight forward, putting excessive pressure on the front of the foot and straining the knees, hips, and lower back. Long-term use can lead to bunions, hammertoes, and plantar fasciitis.

Heavy Handbags: Carrying oversized "tote" bags on one shoulder can lead to imbalanced muscles, neck pain, and a slanted posture.

Flat Shoes with No Support: Popular styles like thin flip-flops or ballet flats can cause joint pain due to a lack of arch support.

Rehabilitation in sports is the restoration of optimal form (anatomy) and function (physiology). It is a method created to enhance functional capacity, fitness, and performance while minimizing the loss associated with acute injury or chronic disease.

The rehabilitation process should begin as soon as possible after an accident, and it should be integrated into a continuum with other therapeutic interventions including the use of pharmaceutical medications.

The athlete’s goal to return to the same sport and setting where the injury happened must be taken into account in the rehabilitation strategy. Biomechanical correction helps in preventing recurrent injuries.

Integration of early injury management and biomechanical correction is very important for any athlete. An Optimum treatment of the injury and rehabilitation not only helps in early return to activities but also boost confidence. Biomechanical corrections and modifications help in improved sports performance and prevention from recurrent injuries.

Don't get demoralized and take appropriate treatment on time.

Sports injuries or injuries occurred during sports activities need early and targeted treatment. Most of the time it occurred because of our faulty biomechanics and early and proper correction not only help us in early healing but help prevent us from recurrent injuries.

Most of the time we are clueless about our injury management and wasted too much time in recovery. During this period our body loss muscle strength and elasticity much faster than a normal person, so it is very important to start sports activities as early as we can.

We are working on the basic concept of healing, if we correct the cause we can prevent the recurrence, so biomechanical correction is the most important step in the healing process. Correct biomechanics is also very important for performance enhancement, so learn about your injury, heal the cause and live a healthy and pain free life.

One of the most common causes for neck and low back pain has to do with our poor and stressful posture. Because the majority of conditions in neck and low back pain falls under the category of chronic repetitive overuse injuries, and a poor posture increases the load/pressure on the ligaments, joints, muscles, and tendons trying to absorb this repetitive load. In other words, poor posture will predispose and/or increases the risk of developing a repetitive overuse injury in the neck and low-back region.

The reason for this is that poor posture will lead to the development of a system of muscle imbalances and overcompensation patterns (unstable patterns) in our body. “Over the time, this imbalance will spread throughout the musculoskeletal system in a predictable manner.”

Postural syndromes are very common in western societies. Our lifestyles such as sitting behind a desk for hours on a daily basis, daily driving, prolonged use of smart phones and texting, poor diet, poor ergonomics, lack of exercise due to time constraints, and not paying attention to our slouching contribute significantly to developing postural syndromes. To decrease this phenomenon the least we can do is to be a bit more aware of our posture and learn proper ergonomics while sitting behind a desk. It only takes a small effort to make significant changes.

Things are moving really fast, with time our body is becoming vulnerable, and we are more susceptible to infective, lifestyle diseases and malignancies.

Why it is happening and are we really moving in a right direction. Since last 2-3 decades our dependency on medicines is increasing drastically but are we getting cure or just taking symptomatic treatment only. Why we are becoming so weak with time.

Lifestyle changes and dependency on electronic gadgets is making us more vulnerable to many diseases, above all our understanding of the disease process is decreasing with time. Instead to biomechanical correction we are going for surgical interventions, instead of cure we are looking for symptomatic relief. That shows our weakness, out reduced tolerance and lack of understanding of the disease.

Each specialty teaches us how to treat a disease and what the proper approach, but we are now straightaway touching the extreme, instead of using stepladder.

Posture and Faulty biomechanics are two of the most common but neglected factors, responsible as an initial trigger for most of the lifestyle and other diseases. But, because of our faulty understanding we are showing more faith in medicines. It's better to wake up now and start improving our biomechanics and posture.

Few of the symptoms because of acute or chronic trapezius tightness are:

1. Poor postural alignment and shoulder position
2. Upper back pain that radiates or worsens with movement
3. Lower back fatigue and reduced stability
4. Lack of arm and shoulder mobility and strength
5. Soreness, stiffness, and spasms of the trapezius muscle
6. Tingling or numbness in the arms
7. Posterior headaches
8. Myalgia or muscle pain

In simple words, trapezius tightness is responsible for most of the postural pains and neurological symptoms not only around neck but also in the upper & lower back.

Don't blame your spine for every pain, instead most of the pains are secondary to musculoskeletal problems in your body. Wrong posture is one of the major triggers for musculoskeletal pain.

Live life free from pain & disabilities.

Most of us are now suffering with some kind of "Autonomic imbalance". Any kind of suffering, in any form is the result of ongoing "Autonomic imbalance". Mostly it is being unrecognized and untreated.
Origin of this "Autonomic imbalance" either our lifestyle induced or because of an active/latent Myofascial trigger.
Regular physical activity helps us in keeping this "Autonomic imbalance" under control and also helps in healing various musculoskeletal issues.
Control this damaging "Autonomic imbalance" under control & live a healthy and pain free life.

Ways to live happy & healthy:

1. Never ignore your posture and maintain a healthy and flexible posture
2. Regular physical activity is a must for cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal and Endocrine health
3. Too much dependency on electronic gadgets is not good, they can make us vulnerable to many musculoskeletal and lifestyle issues
4. Each and every one is having their own unique endocrinological and physical characteristics, so don't compare yourself with others
5. Our Autonomic nervous system (ANS) and endocrinological system controls our most of the bodily functions and healthy functioning of these systems depends on regular physical activity and good posture.
6. Avoid prolonged sitting as intra-discal pressure is maximum during sitting position.

Maintain your flexibility and joint ROM and live a healthy and pain free life.

Long duration standing and walking on hard surface generally cause over-pronation at the ankle joints.

This over-pronation at the ankle joints pushes our knee joints into varus stress and to compensate varus stress at the knee our adductor goes into compensatory tightness.

In simple term knee joints are secondarily affected due to compensatory mechanisms at our hip and ankle. Even 10–15-degree restriction of movement at our hip can increase medial compartmental pressure and make us vulnerable to osteoarthritis knee and other musculoskeletal issues around the knees.

Controlling this biomechanism aberration can give us better results instead of going for surgical options. Things are easy to correct with a correct approach. This is just the beginning; If we ignore the importance of healthy biomechanics, with time we will pay the price for our mistakes.
