An exceptionally rare case of Cranio vertebral Junction osteonecrosis following RT for Squamous Cell Carcinoma. (Mandible)

A 59-year-old gentleman, previously treated for SCC (surgery + RT), presented with quadriplegia due to complete CVJ destruction and dysjunction—an exceptionally rare presentation with only a handful of cases documented worldwide. He underwent DCER (Distraction to recreate height, Compression to seat the construct, Extension for axis correction, and Reduction of the deformity), along with C1 laminectomy, and occipitocervical fixation for definitive stabilization. At 2 months, he regained complete neurological power. A valuable teaching case in managing radiation-induced CVJ collapse.”
