DAY 4: Residential Refresher Course for REKs and PETs Continues at Reasi

Day 4 of the ongoing Residential Refresher Course organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Reasi, witnessed enthusiastic participation of Rehbar-e-Khel (REKs) and Physical Education Teachers (PETs) in specialised coaching sessions across multiple sports disciplines.
During the technical sessions, Physical exercise along with Morninh assembly conducted by Sh. Balwan Singh, Kho- Kho Skills was conducted by Sh. Romesh Kumar Softball coaching skills were imparted by Opinder Pal Singh, Kabaddi coaching by Arun Dev Singh, while Football coaching skills were conducted by Rahul Bakshi. The sessions focused on improving sport-specific techniques, modern coaching methodologies, and practical training skills essential for school-level sports development.
While addressing the participants, Sh. Tarsem Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Reasi, stated that the Department is committed to continuously enhancing the knowledge and coaching skills of REKs and PETs in sports disciplines approved by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports. He emphasized that such refresher courses play a vital role in upgrading coaching standards and strengthening the sports ecosystem at the grassroots level.
Highlighting the importance of Physical Education Teachers, Sh. Tarsem Singh said that PETs are the backbone of school sports, as they are the first to identify, scout, and nurture sporting talent among school children. He added that Physical Education Teachers not only coach students in the basic fundamentals of various games but also instil discipline, teamwork, fitness awareness, and sportsmanship, thereby laying a strong foundation for future sporting excellence and other officials present on the occasion was Jagdev Singh Mohd. 5 Days Orientation-cum-Refresher Programme Culminates with Adventure Trek and Cultural Engagements at Gangeda Hills.
The Department of Youth Services & Sports, Udhampur, successfully brought to a close the five-day Orientation-cum-Refresher/Teacher Training Programme with a structured adventure trek at the picturesque Gangeda Hills, signifying the culmination of an intensive and professionally enriching academic engagement.
The programme, conducted over five days, encompassed a comprehensive blend of theoretical discourse, practical demonstrations, experiential learning modules, and activity-oriented training sessions, meticulously designed to augment professional acumen, technical dexterity, and pedagogical efficacy of Physical Education Teachers. The participants were exposed to sports-specific methodologies, advanced conditioning protocols, skill refinement drills, interactive deliberations, and collaborative team exercises, delivered by seasoned and technically proficient resource persons.

The valedictory session was presided over by Sh. Romesh Chander Mishra, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Udhampur, who in his concluding address, In his remarks, Mishra underscored the indispensability of sustained professional upskilling through orientation and refresher programmes in order to remain conversant with contemporary coaching paradigms, scientific training approaches, and the dynamic evolution of sports sciences. He commended the participants for their exemplary discipline, unwavering commitment, and proactive engagement throughout the five-day programme.
As a salient feature of the concluding day, an adventure-based trekking expedition at Gangeda Hills was organised to provide first-hand exposure to outdoor education, leadership conditioning, endurance enhancement, risk management, and team cohesion. The activity was conducted under stringent supervision and safety protocols, reinforcing the pedagogical relevance of adventure sports in physical resilience, mental fortitude, and environmental consciousness.

The programme concluded on an elevating note with collective singing, recreational engagements, and informal cultural interactions, which further strengthened professional camaraderie and peer bonding among the participants. Certificates of participation were distributed, and due appreciation was accorded to the resource persons, organising committee, and supporting staff for ensuring the seamless ex*****on of the programme.
The successful culmination of the Orientation-cum-Refresher Programme is anticipated to make a substantive contribution towards capacity enhancement of Physical Education Teachers, thereby reinforcing sports education frameworks and bolstering grassroots sports and youth development initiatives across District Udhampur.

DYSSO Udhampur Organises Five-Day Trekking Expedition at Patnitop
*Udhampur, 22-12-2025:*
The District Youth Services & Sports Office (DYSSO), Udhampur, under the esteemed patronage of the *Director General, Youth Services & Sports, UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Anuradha Gupta, JKAS,* today commenced a five-day Trekking Expedition at Patnitop in accordance with the Annual Calendar of Activities issued by the Directorate General, Youth Services & Sports (DGYSS).

The five-day trekking expedition, which started today and will culminate after five days, has drawn the participation of around 55 students from different zones of District Udhampur, accompanied by eight officials. The expedition was formally flagged off from Udhampur by *Romesh Chander Mishra, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Udhampur.

Addressing the participants, Romesh Chander Mishra, DYSSO Udhampur, underscored the importance of adventure-based activities in strengthening the physical, mental, and moral fabric of youth. He stated that trekking expeditions significantly contribute towards developing endurance, discipline, teamwork, leadership qualities, and self-confidence, while also nurturing environmental responsibility and respect for nature. He urged the participants to adhere strictly to safety guidelines and maintain discipline throughout the duration of the camp.

During the five-day programme, participants will undertake trekking expeditions to various identified routes and locations in and around Patnitop. The daily schedule includes morning assembly, yoga and meditation, physical training, patrol formation, recreational activities, and nature and environmental awareness sessions, aimed at ensuring holistic development.
The expedition is being conducted under the close supervision of *Som Dev Khajuria, Ramesh Chander, Sanjeev Kumar, Bikram Singh, Atul Khajuria, Joginder Singh, and Ravi Kumar,* who are ensuring the smooth and safe conduct of all activities strictly as per departmental norms.
The five-day trekking expedition is expected to culminate successfully after the completion of the scheduled activities, providing participants with enriching experiences, enhanced confidence, and valuable life skills.

Udhampur: The Department of Youth Services & Sports, Udhampur, today successfully conducted matches of the Inter-District UT-Level Under-17 Boys Cricket Tournament across multiple venues in the district. The matches were organized in a systematic, disciplined, and competitive manner, strictly as per the approved tournament guidelines.
The tournament is being conducted under the patronage of Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services & Sports, UT of Jammu & Kashmir, whose visionary leadership and continuous support have significantly strengthened grassroots sports and competitive platforms across the Union Territory. The whole event is being organized under the guidance of Vinakshi Koul, JKAS, Joint Director, Youth Services & Sports, ensuring adherence to technical standards and administrative discipline.The smooth planning, coordination, and ex*****on of the whole tournament are being carried out under the direction of Megha Bhogia, Deputy Director (Activities), The whole tournament is being effectively supervised with the administrative support of Angel Kotwal, JKAS, Deputy Director (Central), Youth Services & Sports, UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

Result: Anantnag defeated Kupwara by 8 wickets.

The District Youth Services & Sports, Udhampur, today successfully conducted Day 2 of the Inter-District UT Level Cricket Tournament for Boys across multiple venues in Udhampur district. The matches were held in a smooth, disciplined, and competitive atmosphere, witnessing enthusiastic participation from teams representing various districts of the Union Territory.

The tournament is being organized in accordance with the approved policy framework, with continuous guidance and support from the Director General, Youth Services & Sports, UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Ms. Anuradha Gupta, and active coordination and cooperation from the District Administration, Udhampur.

On the occasion, Sh. Romesh Chander Mishra, District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO), Udhampur, who was also the Chief Guest, visited various venues and interacted with the participating players. He expressed sincere gratitude to the Director General, Youth Services & Sports, UT of J&K, for her constant encouragement and support. The DYSSO appreciated the performance of the teams and motivated the players to maintain discipline and uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The event was further graced by ZPEO Pushpinder Kour and Ms. Jyoti Rani, who attended as Guests of Honour. Srinagar Emerges Champion in U-17 Boys UT Level Softball Tournament.
Katra :-The Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS), Reasi successfully concluded the U-17 Inter-District UT Level Softball Tournament at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex, Katra, witnessing enthusiastic participation and high-quality competition from across the Union Territory.
While sharing the details,
Sh. Tarsem Singh, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Reasi, lauded the commendable efforts of the field staff, technical officials, and supporting staff for ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra, for providing world-class sports infrastructure and continuous support. He also specially thanked the Director Sports, SMVD Sports Complex, Sh. Dhruv Gupta, for his kind cooperation, which significantly contributed to the success of the event.
The tournament was conducted under the overall supervision of Sh. Kuldeep Raj, Activity Incharge, Youth Services & Sports, Reasi. The trophy was presented to the winning team by a senior official of the Youth Services & Sports, Reasi during the closing ceremony.
The final match, played between District Srinagar and District Jammu, turned out to be a thrilling encounter. Displaying excellent teamwork and discipline, District Srinagar defeated District Jammu by 8 runs to lift the championship trophy.

DYSS Udhampur organised an Inter-District UT-Level U-17 Boys Cricket Tournament.Cricket tournament naugurated today at Subash Stadium, Udhampur, in a ceremony marked by high decorum, vibrant participation, and an impressive turnout of spectators. The event, orchestrated by the District Youth Services & Sports (DYSS) Udhampur, stands as one of the most significant youth sporting engagements of the year.
Prem Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Udhampur, presided over the inauguration as the Chief Guest, while Kalpana Jasrotia, Deputy CEO, Udhampur, honoured the event as Guest of Honour.
Romesh Chander Mishra, DYSSO Udhampur, alongside his dedicated team, extended a ceremonious welcome to all dignitaries, selectors, officials, and the influx of participants representing districts across the Union Territory.
A formidable contingent of 20 district teams is competing in the tournament, which is slated to culminate on 16th December 2025.
Chief Guest’s Address: A Call for Discipline and Purpose
In a compelling and resonant address, ADC Prem Singh underscored the indispensable values of discipline, integrity, and personal conduct in the pursuit of excellence.
“If you aspire to achieve eminence, embrace discipline as your foremost virtue. Revel in the spirit of sport, remain steadfast, and distance yourselves unequivocally from narcotics. The District Administration stands resolutely prepared to extend every requisite support,” he articulated.
He further proclaimed that all participating athletes shall be regarded as Youth Ambassadors Against Drug Abuse, entrusted with championing anti-drug awareness in their respective communities.
The Chief Guest also engaged individually with team in-charges, players, and officials before symbolically presenting a potted plant, signifying environmental responsibility and sustainable sporting culture.
Guest of Honour’s Remarks: Emphasis on Holistic Development
Addressing the gathering, Kalpana Jasrotia commended the unwavering efforts of DYSS Udhampur in fostering robust sports infrastructure and youth empowerment. She encouraged the participants to exhibit fortitude, sportsmanship, and academic balance.
