Role of Leech Therapy in Arbuda
Leech therapy is a form of Raktamokshana (bloodletting) that is considered suitable for conditions involving vitiated Pitta and Rakta Doshas, which are often associated with inflammatory conditions and abnormal growths like Arbuda. The mechanism is believed to involve:

Bioactive Compounds: The saliva of medicinal leeches contains numerous pharmacologically active substances, such as anticoagulants (hirudin), anti-inflammatory agents (eglins, bdellins), vasodilators, and analgesic compounds. When injected during the bite, these compounds help improve local blood circulation, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain.
Promoting Healing: By enhancing microcirculation and delivering oxygenated blood and nutrients to the site, leech therapy helps in the healing process of various lesions and ulcers associated with such conditions.
