The genesis of IDA,Kanchipuram District Branch
Dentistry began its date with kanchipuram when Dr.J.Narasimman joined the Govt. Headquarters hospital in the late 60’s.Though there were Part-B practitioners in town Dr.J.Narasimman was the first graduated dental surgeon to function. Similarly Dr.Bakthavatchalam of Chengalpattu and Dr.G.N.Jayaraman of Arakkonam were the early practitioners. Gradually the dentists population increased in late seventies and eighties. Early Meetings:
Clinical Society meetings were the first ones oranised by the IMA.A few Pharmaceutical company followed suit to bring the doctors together. First Attempt:
Prof.S.S.Prasad, as the principal of Sri Ramachandra Dental College, Porur, convened a meeting of dental surgeons of Kanchipuram & Thiruvallur, the then Chengai-Anna District. Dr.K.R.Balraj Kumar was nominated as the president, with Dr.R.Sukumar & Dr.V.B.Jayanthapadmanabhan and others from Thiruvallur and Chennai as office bearers. This effort did not materialise because it was practically difficult for the Tiruvallur dental surgeon to come to kanchipuram. Because of the long distance they preferred to stay with Chennai branch. Dental Camps:
Massive dental treatment camps organised by Lion Dr.K.R.Balrajkumar in association with Meenakshi Ammal Dental College Team brought the dentists together. Our PNP Dr.V.M.Veerabagu was always present for those camps to bless us. These slowly lead to the clinical meetings organosed by Dr.V.B.Kumarakrishnan and V.B.Jayanthapadmanabhan for the dental surgeons of Kanchipuram. That met thrice at Baboo Soorya. Effort by Prof.B.Srinivasan, past VC of Sankara University must be mentioned here. He tried in vain to kick start an association. Final Effort:
It was the unrelenting, fired on, solid, and staunch Dr.M.Mahendiran, Prof. V.B.Kumarakrishnan, Dr.K.R.Balrajkumar and Dr.Sukumar that? Saw the silver lining in the clouds. The trio Dr.K.R.B.,Dr.V.B.K. & Dr.Magendiran travelled across the length and breadth of kanchipuram district to meet all the prospective members. It was an appropriate time and overall support was obtained. Ably supported by the state president Dr.V.S.Ramesh and the state secretary Dr.Vijayakumar, we got our recognition in record time!(within 90 days)
Birth of IDA, KDB:
The IDA, KDB was born on 21/06/06.Fittingly Dr.K.R.Balraj kumar was chosen to be the founder president with Dr.Mahendiran as his secretary. Thus the dreams of Dr.M.Mahendiran have come true! We owe everything to him and to our dear members. Special mention must be made of the enthusiasm and encouragement of the members of Chengalpattu, Arakkonam, Tambar am, Maraimali Nagar etc., Let us not stop here. We should grow in three dimensions, numerically, mentally and financially! Let us become the No.1 branch of our state
