In Sanskrit, the word ‘Guru’ comprises two root words, ‘Gu’ and ‘Ru’. ‘Gu’ means darkness, and ‘Ru’ means remover.

Guru is Brahma, the Lord of Creation, also called Generator. Guru is Vishnu (Vishnu is the Organizer), and Guru is Maheshwara (Shiva or the destroyer). Guru Sakshat Parabrahma means Guru is Parbrahma, the Supreme God.

How we thought of starting Chinmay Yoga

As Bhagsu and Dharamkot in Dharamsala, India started commercializing over time, we saw a rise of numerous yoga centers in these areas. People from all around the world came to learn yoga at insanely high prices. Yoga teacher training is offered by many Yoga centers and they charge around 1600-2000 USD for it.

The problem with it is, yoga is turning into a money making business and hence the essence of yoga is lost. Yoga is pure, is it is something so divine that when done in hope of not keeping money in mind, it serves it real purpose.

That’s exactly how the story of Chinmay Yoga began! We wanted to do something for a greater good, we wanted to bring in the change by working for education and not money. Our purpose was to make sure the intrinsic nature of yoga is not lost in the yoga center.

We work on non-profit basis, hence are fees are 699 USD with food and accommodation ( we are the first one in the world ). We believe in making our surroundings better by sponsoring dustbins and trees. We make sure no traveler sleeps hungry by offering unlimited meal at only 2 USD.
