PROSTATE ENLARGEMENT ;

The prostate is a gland that is present in men which helps in the secretion of seminal fluid. As one grows older,the prostate enlarges and sometimes becomes big enough to block the urine flow. This condition is referred to as Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy.
The condition could be dependent on hormones and the risk factors for prostste enlargement include obesity, high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and heart diseases. A sedentary lifestyle, smoking and unhealthy diet can also worsen the symptoms.

The symptoms of prostate enlargement include increase in the urgency to urinate, a urinary stream that starts and stops, urinary obstruction and a feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder.
A re**al examination can indicate prostate enlargement and consistency of the prostate. An ultrasound could confirm the diagnosis and CT scans are required only when a malignancy is suspected.

FISTULAS - are a highly distressing condition, causing a lot of pain and discomfort. An infection of an a**l gland that breaks down, results in the formation of a fistula. A complex a**l fistula has a high internal opening which may not be seen, and courses through and above the a**l sphincter muscles, with multiple tracks or a hourse shoe- like formation.
Fistulas continuously discharge foul smelling secretions. Infections result in abscess formation and fever. Patients often resort to wearing a small absorbent pad, to avoid soaking of undergarments.When neglected, fistulas notoriously burrow further especially among patients with compromised immunity or diabetes.

They are usually composed of some amount of connective tissue and vascular channels which are mainly venous. They appear normal, but in some conditions become inflamed. Piles are divided into internal and external types. It can cause pain and bleeding when infected or when they attain a significant size.
